Hi

I recently became a US citizen and I've been planning to bring my mother to the US to live with me through immigration, however obviously situation changed due to Covid and my mother been suffering from Dementia for a while and its getting worse. She has no one to take care of her. I checked the I-130 processing time and its really long so I can't just leave her there while I am waiting for the application to be processed. I decided to apply for a visit visa to bring her however the embassy is closed.

I tried emailing them to get an emergency appointment, but they didn't even reply to my email.

I am stuck and I don't know what to do. I guess I am asking for an advise, or if you have a similar situation and did something to resolve it.

Do you think also if I email the senator, I would get help.

Sorry for the numerous questions but I am really lost and desperate.

Thank You

Malak

Do you have the finances to fund her care?

Somebody I know is paying $70,00 a year to cover such costs.

I am sorry for you Mother's health situation.  Have you considered submitting the I-130, then requesting an expedite due to extreme hardship?  It might speed up the immigration process to a degree.

Unfortunately, you cannot bring her over on a tourist visa for that purpose.  Additionally, health care in the US is very expensive.  With a diagnosis of progressive dementia, if you do intend for her to immigrate, you will want to have a solid plan to fund her care.

I'm also sorry for the OP's situation.

If it's not feasible to arrange for a paid caregiver in the mother's home country, an expedited I-130 may be the next best option. This assumes that the OP has sufficient resources to fund medical care in the US.

I don't know how dementia can impact the mother's ability to independently attend the visa interview / answer interview questions / travel internationally, but perhaps this "race against time", combined with appropriate medical documentation, can strengthen the expedite request.

Expedites are much more likely to be approved when the rationale is related to the health of the USC, rather than alien relative.
