Hello Everyone

 

I am new in this journey.

• To file for unmarried son over 21 what are the steps? He stays outside of US. 
• we are from India , so how long waiting time is? 
• Is it any way to expedite process?

So first step will be file I-130 and what will be next step?

Then you wait for the Priority Date to become current.

So, the next VB is very important to set the tone for the next fiscal year. Reading some positive news, such as reducing the waiting time for an immigrant visa interview from 2 years to the standard 2 months, is encouraging. Additionally, someone who applied in September 2015 finally got their immigrant visa

Visa numbers for July 2023 are in and Dominican Republic has been issued 3807 visas out of the 4615 visas left for them to cross the 7% limit, which means they only have 808 visas left this year for August and July. 

It will be interesting to see if they do cross it or suddenly USCIS decides to totally shutdown any visa issuance to help them avoid the 7% quota. 

 

There are basically 404 visas left per month for the next 2 months. 

 

Also this is the highest number of visas issued to DR this year in a single month.

So Dominican Republic continues to dominate the tables!...I am not sure if USCIS will impose the 7% quota on DR even if they exceed that. USCIS is so expert at doing nothing...

I've also realized generally more visas are being issued to South American countries. If that trend continues in the coming FY, we will still be in for a long ride. I wonder why South America is being prioritized?

It has always been 25,620. Not sure where that 29,616 comes from. If that's the new number, we are doomed. I think it's a typo since using that number and dividing it by 0.07 doesn't give you a whole number.

In 2020 and 2021, approximately 122,000 and 150,000 family-based immigrant visas, respectively, went unused.

 

FY 2023, approximately 197,000 total employment-based visas were available, thanks to the rollover of an additional 57,000 unused family-sponsored visa numbers from FY 2022. The good news is that there won't be any rollover visas from the family-based preference from 2023 for 2024.

 

Over the course of three years, a total of 329,000 visas went unused. Typically, the family preference category receives 226,000 visas per fiscal year, which means that approximately 1.5 years' worth of visas were wasted.

Legally USCIS cannot issue more visas to DR if they cross the 7%. These are the limits set by Congress. USCIS can't decide to not enforce these rules. 

 

I was listening to the Charlie Oppenheim chat about the latest bulletin, and he thought the fact that F2B did not retrogress for the entire year is good news for forward movement in the next few months. This should mean that they've gotten through most or all of the backlog created by covid. I also saw a post in reddit of an F2B with PD of October 2016 having an interview scheduled.
