We married on 2-19-21 and are just now getting to filing this.

Does anyone have any suggestion or a thread they can point me to regarding the order in which we should do it when considering a name change, as well?

Do we change the legal surname first?

Do it after?

If anyone has experience with this please share it.

Thank you!

Weird that it's not in the guides (that I could see) and I didn't find a thread after a quick search. Seems worth posting your own thread about it so more people will see it.

I just finished mine today and i am worried that i might do something wrong. I am double, triple and quadruple checking everything. Let hope we can support each other one this.

Yes, same. It seems like a lot of people get their AOS packages rejected and I don't want that. The guide at the beginning of the Feb filers seems good for double checking supporting documents and all that, but I didn't want to outright steal it and post it here. 😊

I'd take it out. They say they don't want it anymore after the 9th. I filled ours out, but I'm not sending it. (It was mostly just explanations of why various records are unavailable, and he would've had some negative marks so I'm super glad it's gone.)

Or I guess if taking it out would mean you'd need a new envelope, I'd probably just let them throw it out, personally.

so i-944's off the list. yayyy!

we're about to send our package tomorrow, but just wanna be 100% sure -- proof of relationship, cohabitation, and co-mingling of finances aren't needed as initial evidence, right? they're just for the interview stage or if asked

That's my understanding.

My package should have arrived at the Chicago lockbox Friday (USPS priority) but tracking says:

Your item was forwarded to a different address at 12:52 pm on March 19, 2021 in CHICAGO, IL. This was because of forwarding instructions or because the address or ZIP Code on the label was incorrect.

:(

Hello fellow March filers!

Just sent our AOS file yesterday via USPS and got delivered to Chicago lockbox today @ 1PM.

However, we're a bit frustrated when we reviewed our I-864 from joint sponsor because we overlooked and put the wrong total value of asset in part 7 question 10.

Anyway, we cannot do anything about it and accepted the fact that there's a high change of getting RFE in the future. :( Just praying for the best possible outcome :)

Also, we used the I-485 form with edition date 10/15/19.... not knowing that there is a new edition which came out recently. :(

As per USCIS website, they mentioned that they will still accept the old version before April 19, 2021... so we hope to receive the NOA1 ASAP.

Goodluck to all :)

I filed in Jan and had it returned back to me due to the same reason as you - an older (previous) edition date of I-485 despite expiry date is still valid. Resubmitted everything as original submission and they received it on Mar 5 (Fri). It is almost three weeks now. Let's see how that pans out.

Hi guys,

My wife and I mailed our packet in on 12-MAR-21 and are now awaiting NOA1. We definitely felt the pressure getting our packet out and going for zero mistakes, but time will tell.

Our packet did have I-944... I need to do some reading now I guess, because I thought that it was required.
