Consulate Review: Senegal
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 19, 2020
Embassy Review : My fiance said the interview was very pleasant. They asked how we met, whether our families had met, and what I (the petitioner) do for work. They gave him the photos I had included in our 129f application, and gave him a green slip to pick up the visa next Tuesday (after a Thursday interview).
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: JFK
Event Description
Entry Date : 2020-12-19
Embassy Review : My fiance said it was easy to come in with his K1 visa. He doesn't speak English, but the officer managed to communicate with gestures and didn't call a translator over.
Harassment Level : Low

Local US CIS Office Review: Portland OR
Review Topic: cis_topic
Event Description
Review Date : April 7, 2022
Embassy Review : My husband had his AOS interview today (adjusting from a K1) at Portland. After going through security, interviews are on the second floor. We waited a while to be called, but not too long. (15 minutes?) We were called back together in the officer's office. We had arranged to have an interpreter for French available from upwork.com, but the officer wanted to use the USCIS phone interpretation service. The interpreter turned out to be from my husband's country (Senegal). The officer went through the entire AOS application with my husband, asking about all of the eligibility questions (have you ever committed a crime, etc). We also updated our address, since apparently it hadn't updated in the system when we changed it, despite getting a confirmation email. Then the officer opened it up to both of us to ask about our relationship. He wanted to know a lot of details about when we met and decided to marry, and what the ceremony was like. My husband still hasn't met my family, but it wasn't an issue, fortunately. He then went over the documents we had provided and said to keep collecting things like this for the ROC process, and explained a bit about how that would go. He told us we would be approved by the end of the day, but he had to go through our paperwork and update a few things. The entire interview took longer than I expected. Maybe half an hour or a bit more?
Harassment Level : Very Good

Hello what was your RFE about?
Green_rabbit on 2019-12-19 said:
For meeting in person. I had visa stamps, my hotel receipts, emails organizing that I would take classes at the school where my fiancé works, and an affidavit from a teacher at the school which said he had met us and we were a lovely couple, but he never directly said he had seen us in person together on a specific date, so they wanted proof of that. And apparently you have to send in a copy of the affidavit-writer's ID in order for it to count, and we hadn't done that. So we got 2 new affidavits with ID, a letter from me and one from my fiancé describing how we met, and my fiancé found a selfie he took that I'm in the background of.

Hi, Did you receive your interview date this month?
Green_rabbit on 2020-02-14 said:
It's a K1 so we made the appointment ourselves, but I think it was on Jan 29 that the payment was approved on the website and the calendar opened for us.

Congratulations! Since you didn’t wait for the letter to schedule your interview did they ask for any letter or documentation at the interview?
Green_rabbit on 2021-02-23 said:
No, we just followed the instructions here and he brought what they said to bring. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/DKR-Dakar.html

I’m sorry to ask this but did you receive biometric appointment or still waiting? I’m tired of waiting and just want some hope
Green_rabbit on 2021-10-10 said:
Yes, we had the appointment on July 20. But if your office is Portland, it's slower. They sent us through Yakima for biometrics and they seem faster there.

How did you make them send you to yakima? Portland is taking forever and I’m sick of it i want to go and see my family
Green_rabbit on 2021-10-11 said:
It's just based on where you live. We're waiting on Portland for the interview. It's so slow ...
blank avatar Soukaina on 2021-10-11 said:
Can i call the USCIS and ask them to send me through Yakima?
Green_rabbit on 2021-10-11 said:
Only if you move, I think. And you have to deal with the time to transfer everything. It's better to just wait it out. You can check where you'll do biometrics here : https://egov.uscis.gov/office-locator/#/asc

In the latest problem with getting an SSN, my husband just got a 2nd card in the mail with a different number on it. The SSA keeps cutting off my calls saying all their representatives are busy.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
