Have you tried to contact them? Which one did you send your packet to?

Best thing to note is i think the most recent is 60-90 days.  Someone posted an email they received from USCIS and I cannot remember where it was.  But basically the "receipt date" is still backdated.  So you might not get the notification from USCIS until lets say 16th of February, but previous receipts show a backdate.

Mine arrived January 15th.  I am not expecting any sort of receipt (even through email/text) until March at the earliest, possibly April.  But i have hopes that they will backdate and that will still be 3-4 months into the process.

I hope this helps as my fiance and I are definitely ready to be in the same place, also.  I am visiting her the end of March in Europe and going to continue trips there until the process finishes in its entirety.  We might see everything (including NOA1 for receipt) quickly pass or slowly pass.  Either way, we are in it for the long haul.

What on earth am I supposed to do? They signed for the petition, they have it but it has been months and I can't even get a NOA1. What is there to do for us right now? If our petitions are just sitting somewhere being ignored, then our timelines haven't even begun.

To answer the question in title of your OP: yes it will get worse.  300 refugees will now be processed per day and they will be ahead you petition in the queue.   USCIS isn’t getting more funding.

Everyone has been waiting for the backlog to start to clear but they are starting to process early December applicants now. You are not being ignored. Last week they were working through November and on Friday I saw a few from early December. I wouldn't be surprised if you hear something this week or next. The good news is the date of your NOA1 will be set to when they received the application in the mail. Check out the November and December threads for more info. Let us know when you hear!

My understanding is that most of these are being reprocessed. I dunno, but I'm sorta okay with us taking the time to (re)process asylum seekers even if it means my own application slows down. It would be much better for USCIS to hire more people though. I'm curious about it though . . . do we know that this will have an impact on other forms of immigration? Do we have any historical data? I don't know enough about the channels each group goes through and the interconnectedness.

Well we have the Obama experience so not identical by any means but indicative of longer processing times. Obviously 300 is just a trickle, now how they will deal with the larger numbers I do not know, not sure they do. I would have thought the other categories like DACA, DAPA etc who are in the same sort of line would be more significant.

Your timeline begins the day it was delivered.

YMMV

Good points! They are processing people with active claims: "The new guidelines will require migrants to register online or via phone, be tested for the coronavirus in Mexico and then come to a U.S. port of entry on a specific day."

So at least initially the burden will be on the international orgs handling the registration and then on border guards(?). And then there will be follow-up paperwork presumably processed by USCIS.

I guess we'll find out.
