Hey everyone, I'm traveling out of the country and I only have my Romanian passport with a valid I-551 stamp. WIll that be valid since I am already a citizen but my Naturalization certificate is with USPS for my passport application and won't get back in time for my travel.
I'll be taking a copy of my Naturalization certificate with me, but was just wondering if I'll have any issues with my stamp.

Thank you!

Before you take the Oath, you gave back the card, it would complicate your situation. Wait for the passport to travel.

I don’t believe a USC can re-enter the US as an LPR as that status is no longer valid once someone has taken the oath.  You will need to wait for your US Passport.

As a US citizen, you are required to present your US passport upon entry if you are flying in.  Do not present to CBP your other passport with stamp as you are no longer an LPR.  Wait for your US passport before you travel.  But if you really cannot postpone your trip, either have your passport mailed to your location (risky, not recommended) or apply for an emergency passport at the nearest US consulate (no guarantee they will approve) before you return to the US.

You cannot enter the US a US citizen using another country’s passport. Even if you are a dual citizen.

You have two options. Either postpone your travel until your passport has been returned to you or have the passport couriered to where you are staying overseas. The former is the safer option. There is no exit immigration here so leaving is not the issue. It’s returning where you must have a US passport if you are a citizen. You don’t want to start your new life here as a citizen with a felony, do you?

Thank you all. Yea, my lawyer said the same. I won't get my passport in time for this travel, so I'll have to wait 12 weeks plus. Kinda stupid if you ask me.

You can try for expedited passport service -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast.html

Kind of tough now, since the OP said the application was already sent in along with the original Nat. Cert.

OP can call for expedited service over the phone even after the application has been submitted.  We did that.  They will take a credit card over the phone for the expedite fee.

Yea, this was for a quick getaway. I had to put my 14 year old bulldog to sleep and just couldn't stand around here alone.
