According to Department of State this is the reason

 

The announcement follows the revelation this week of a massive cyberattack against numerous government departments and agencies as well as a number of private companies. The sophisticated computer breach lasted months — indeed seems to be ongoing — and is widely believed to have been carried out by Russia's foreign intelligence service, the SVR.

He does not care as long as he can steal the election. Russian hackers have already intruded the entire US network with spyware - thanks to donnie

No it's not. They said they submitted the paperwork before this. They also have no proof it was Russians who hacked it. It's all a bunch of baloney honestly

and to me this is not the place for politics as it does nothing to help our other members wade thru this process

Considering that a bunch of Russian consulates in the US got shut down some years ago, it's not surprizing that this is happening. Relations between the two countries have been doing downhill for years.

 

The result will be fewer people applying for tourist visas because people in the Far East may not see it as worth it. On the other hand, it creates a bottleneck to Moscow, which will now be even more overloaded with applications. Lose/lose situation for everyone.

I actually had no idea there was a "US Consular Agency" in Sakhalin, that's fascinating to me. I wonder what that is and what they do there?! Now I want to know more, haha....it's SO remote, it's almost Japan! Is this a secret place that accidentally got leaked?! I have found no info anywhere about it, haha.
