A Morning Consult survey on behalf of National Geographic conducted Nov. 20-23 found 61 percent of Americans were either “likely” or “somewhat likely” to take a vaccine if it were approved by the FDA and made available to them. In that poll, 30 percent said they were unlikely to take the vaccine, including 19 percent who indicated they were “very unlikely.” And a Gallup poll conducted Nov. 16-29 showed roughly the same splits.¹

Means I might get it quicker. My FB has several saying they won't take it. Most of them are wing bat the boogie man is coming low iq idiots. I love the guy that probably failed 10th grade science handing out medical advice.

I know what you mean, but we need to get to 70-80% coverage for this stuff to go away, and until they prove that vaccinated folks cannot transmit it, we are stuck wearing masks. I mean I don't mind paying the price for my idiocy, why do I have to pay it for the other guy?

Overall, I think the numbers of people willing to take the jab is going upwards.  Considering how politicized this vaccine was made by the MSM and some prominent Democrat leaders, I am not really surprised the numbers are where they are at now.  There will be a lot of avenues government and companies can use to entice people to get it with the biggest being for those companies that self finance medical insurance, to take away coronavirus coverage for anyone opting out of the vaccine.

    We have a lot if people, mostly younger people who want to wait a few weeks and see what happens with the people who get it first. I just saw a memo that they will be sending what we don’t use to get redistributed to other groups who want to get the vaccine. Pretty much told people get it now or there might not be a second chance for a while.

There are already two weeks of data from the UK and about a week from Canada.  My understanding is that the UK and Canada are also using the Pfizer vaccine, so I would expect the medical community among these countries would be talking.  

 

I did think it was interesting that the first publicized injection was in NYC.  Did Cuomo give his blessing?

Looking at the diffusion of innovation model, generally many of these excited consumers would sit at the innovators or early adopters segments but because of the methodology of distribution they'll wind up the early majority. That's basically where I'd be sitting regardless of the product. I don't ever try new products first in the 21st century era of product quality. This is no different. No one in our family will be getting it until we see its effects on the public. Let them be the test bunnies.

  Our first groups of people vaccinated were staff on the Covid units and in ER. They couldn't all get the vaccine on the first day, but the sign up is at 100% among people who have seen what Covid can do first hand. That was telling enough for me. 

 

  To get away from Covid (and all the restrictions that come with it), it will require a large number of people acquire immunity either from vaccination or from recovering from the illness. In that case, my first choice would be the vaccine. It's not going to work if everyone wants to wait for someone else to get it.
