Will USCIS DCF resume in 2021?

Can we expect normal  Direct Consular Filing for I-130s to resume   under Biden in 2021?

Currently it is only under special circumstances and that too processed by the state dept.

As a lot of the USCIS international field offices have permanently been closed under Pres. Trump.

No......In my opinion, DCF wasn't usually needed, anyway.

I can not think why it would.

No.  The closures were not related to any presidential proclamation, COVID, or Trump's immigration views or policies.

It was a lot faster than the normal path, so for qualified people(back when it was available) it was obviously the better option. I wish I got married and did DCF when it was available!  Oh well

Now, everyone follows the same path, unless there are extraordinary circumstances.   Seems fair to me.

Seems a bit of an odd and bitter reasoning. If the USC is already in said country what’s the big deal? They have already established a marriage and life together and the USC clearly wants to her back to US ASAP.

But it wasn't universally available for all USCs living abroad.

YMMV

I would imagine everybody wants to be processed asap wherever they are living.

Of course, but it doesn’t make sense if the USC is already living abroad with their spouse to then have to wait a year or more to move back to the US with their spouse. In that case, expedites shouldn’t be allowed either lest anyone gets ahead of the queue! Goodness knows, Manila is giving it away like candy. But it doesn’t matter, we should just be happy for each other and cheer each other on.

What was the reasoning behind the cancellation of the DCF process? Was it political? If so, there may be scope, depending on the politics of the day, for the system to be resurrected?

Shouldn't priority be given to those not living with their spouses rather than those who are?

I think argument can be made both ways but if they already have an established life and are abroad it makes sense that they shouldn’t have to wait so long to go back to the US and once family life has been established it’s pretty harsh to take it away. Consider the circumstances of DCF too, which is normally USC and foreign spouse living abroad for years and then have to come back to the US. It’s understandable to me that a route is open for both of them to get back to the US quickly. The USC might have a job waiting or a sick family member, why should they have to be separated from a spouse they’ve established a life with? Of course no one should be separated for so long but when you marry a foreign spouse this is the norm.

I just don’t share the “if we have to suffer then others have to as well.” It’s just not my style personally but understand that others feel that way. The real issue is that it shouldn’t take so long for a (non-DCF) spousal visa to be issued in the first place.
