Comments : The airline staff at check in were a little confused as I did not have a physical green card. Luckily there seemed to be someone there who might have been working for the embassy or CBP who clarified it was fine. At the gate, my boarding pass wouldn’t scan and the airline staff had to call through to double check I did in fact go through check in.

Upon entry to JFK I thought I would be taken to a room for secondary screening but it was just a CBP Officer at the desk. He commented on how quickly it was for us to get the visa, took some fingerprints and then we were done. He stamped my passport and explained that it was valid for a year and I’m free to leave and enter with that stamp. It didn’t take any more than 10 minutes.

So that was surprisingly easy and quick. I thought it would take at least an hour.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
