My point is, the doublespeak coming from this Whitehouse is exhausting. It is obvious we have not turned a corner and things will get worse before they get better.

The quote was from Orwell 1984 who invented the term doublespeak. I assumed that was general knowledge, my bad.

It doesn't really matter where the quote was from, and I really doubt Orwell, who is responsible for a great many quotes, was the first one to put these three words together.  Regardless, it does not change the fact that this is not applicable to just one side.

Orwell discussions to one side, how can anyone reasonably say the pandemic is ended? We were improving here in my county, but over the weekend the infection rate began to rise again to "spreading rapidly." We were on the verge of opening up more, but now that's in the balance. People are getting tired of it all, understandably, but being bored with a virus and wanting it to all go away doesn't mean it does. People are getting lax and going to bigger gatherings, which is causing greater transmission. There was a story I read yesterday about two weddings and a sweet 16 party causing nearly a hundred infections between them, and hundreds of people having to self-isolate. One of those events was under 50 people. 

 

It is not time to blow it off and say "LALALALA it's over because I'm so over it." It's time to remain vigilant and maintain proper safety precautions. Too many people of every single political affiliation and gender and age and location etc. are being stupid.

Stupid is allowing oneself to stay locked up when it doesn't make sense.  Ask Peru how it worked out for them if you doubt me.

Weirdly, and this is going to sound strange I know, but you realize that the 'other side' of whatever side you're not on, is probably saying the same thing from their perspective about whomever you supported or voted for? So who is the real misinformed sheep? Or are we all misinformed sheep in our own little ways?

Don't put words in my mouth. I said proper safety precautions. I did not say "staying locked up." Precautions are socially distancing, wearing a mask where it's indicated, washing hands, not participating in events where others aren't taking precautions. "Staying locked up" isn't part of that.

I honestly don't think about COVID at all.  I just go about my day, doing the things I would normally do, I just do it while wearing a mask. 

 

At this point, people are just being who they are.  I don't put any blame on any government leaders, people are responsible for their own choices.  If people don't know by now what they're supposed to do, nothing is going to get them to change.
