Hello my name is Gen, I have a very confusing situation right now and I’m trying to find an answer. I just filed for removal of conditions for my 2yr green card. I received a letter of extension for 18 months. My 2 yr greencard expired a few years ago, 2017 to be specific. So my problem is this extension that I got would only cover the 18 months from time my green card expires which resulted of me not being able to get a driver’s license or a state id. I tried contacting uscis but no luck, I kept getting hung up on. I want to know what I can do about this. Please help me. Thanks!

Hi, sorry I didn’t put details. My ex-husband and I did file removal of conditions before my gc expired and I got an extension letter for that. But due to some circumstances we ended up separating while the application was on process but later on got rejected (from what i was told by my ex since he’s the one who got the letter from uscis). The extension letter that I got eventually expired and from that time until we got divorced, I didn’t get a chance to file the removal of conditions again. Until this year where I finally filed again and got this 18 months extension but it’s no use because dmv isn’t accepting the letter. So I really need to find out what I can do to fix this.

Thanks for responding, I was able to to talk to someone from contact center and he put me on a queue to get an office appointment. He did mention about stamp but now my other problem is my passport was taken away from me by my ex. Will I still be able to get a 551 stamp without passport? I’m really in a big mess here any advise will be greatly appreciated.

This sounds more like a crime. Since he can't detain your passport, you should contact your embassy or the police.

But since the stamp is being stamped on your passport, so without a passport, u won't be able to get the stamp

I don’t have any proof that he took my passport for sure but after being with him for quite a while I’m certain he has something to do with it and the rest of my documents gone missing. But i have move to a different state since then.

i did read some posts here that the uscis office gave them stamp even without a passport, the stamp was put on a card but you have to bring a photo with you. I’m hoping they are still doing that and also hoping I can get into the office with just an expired gc since I don’t currently have a valid ID.

You need to get to a Philippine embassy and file for a lost or stolen passport

In the absence of a valid passport, they will issue you an I-551 on a blank I-94 portion.

You will need to take two passport photos with you.

CR1 / DCF (London): 2012 / 2013 (4 months from I-130 petition to visa in hand)

I-751 #1- April 2015 [Denied]

April 2015 : I-751 Joint filing package sent fedex next day 09:00am from UK ($lots - thanks).
Jan 2017: Notification that an interview has been scheduled at a local office. Bizarrely still no RFE...
Jan 2017: 2hr wait, then interview terminated before it began, due to moving my ID to another state 2 wks prior. New interview 'in a few months...maybe.'   Informed them that divorce proceedings are underway, but not finalised at this time.
March 2017: An Interview was scheduled - marked as no-show as they didn't actually send out a notification of interview. FML
April  2017: Filed an official complaint with the ombudsman, and have requested Senator & Congressman assistance
August 2017: Interview - switched to a (finalised) divorce waiver. Told that decision will be made that afternoon, but no problems foreseen with my case.
October 2017: Letter of Denial received - reason given as 'I-751 petition was not properly filed'. Discovered ex-spouse made false allegations to USCIS in 2015. No opportunity given to review & refute allegations  - contrary to USCIS policy.

I-751 #2 - Oct 2017 - Mar 2021[Denied]

October 2017: Within 72hrs of receiving denial notice, a new waiver I-751, divorce decree & $680 cheque, sent to Vermont via FedEx overnight 9am priority.
Dec 2019: Filed FOIA request for full A# file
Feb 2020: FOIA request completed - entire A# file received as a .PDF; 197 pages fully redacted, and 80 partially redacted. Don't waste your time!
March 2021: I-751 #2 denied for lack of evidence. No RFE, no interview, and evidence in previous I-751 not reviewed - contrary to policy. Huge errors in adjudication.

N-400 - Feb 2018 - Apr 2021 [Denied]

February 2018: N-400 filed online.  $725 paid to the USCIS paperwork wastage fund

February  2019: Interview - cancelled after a four hour wait due to 'missing paperwork' on their end. Promised Expedited reschedule.

March 2021: Interview letter received, strangely dated after I-751 denial. No I-751 interview conducted. N-400 interview and test passed, given 'cannot make a decision at this time' paper due to the ongoing I-751 nightmare...

April 2021: N-400 denial received citing recent I-751 denial as basis for ineligibility, even though it should have been a combo interview 🤯

I AM JACK'S COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE

Service Motion - March 2021 [Sent via FedEx & COMPLETELY IGNORED by USCIS]

March 2021: Service Motion request sent overnight addressed direectly to field office director, requesting urgent review and re-opening, based on errors in adjudication - citing USCIS policy, AFM and memorandums as basis for errors. This was completely ignored by USCIS.

 I-751 #3 - June 2021 - Jan 2024 [Denied]

IT'S GROUNDHOG DAY

June 2021: I-751 #3 (30+lbs/5000 pages of paperwork) & another $680 sent to USCIS via FedEx ($300+..thanks) ....

June 2021: Receipt issued, card charged, biometrics waived, infopass scheduled for I-551 stamp number ten.....

Feb 2022: RFIE (no, not an RFE, a Request For Initial Evidence) received, for copies of the divorce paperwork that they already have 😑

July 2022: Infopass for I-551 stamp number eleven.....

August 2023: Infopass for I-551 stamp number twelve....

January 2024: Denial received, ignoring the overwhelming majority of the filing, abundance of evidence, and refutation of a provably false allegation. The denial also contradicts itself in multiple places, as if it was written by someone with an IQ <50.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

2024: FML. Seriously. I'm done.

Thank you for your response. Do you know if I can go inside the office without a valid ID? I have my expired gc and that’s about it so I’m not even sure if they will let me in with just an appointment letter and expired gc. I’m hoping they would.

I will do that as soon as I can travel to a ph consulate, the nearest one is in LA and I’m about 5-6 hrs away from there. Also, I have read that they need to see a valid green card or photo ID before someone can get a ph passport.

Just asking. Are you 100% sure that the other one got denied? I mean if you think he took your passport and other documents can you really trust what he said about that case? Did you ever check the case number online? Call them to check on that status?

Just a note, you may want to check on the embassies website at the LA location. My wife is Thai, and the closest embassy to us is also LA ( About 4 hours away), but they do mobile consular services in the local areas. They came to Las Vegas, they go to Utah, they go to northern California also thru-out the year. You can make an appointment and renew your passport when they come to your city. You bring a prepaid envelope with you, and they do everything for you and mail you your new passport. My wife had hers in about a month after the appointment, worked out really easy, and was only a 10 min. drive instead of 4 hours each way. At least this way you can get it done without traveling very far, it's just a timing thing, and with all the Covid rules, they might not be doing it, but I think they will be starting again next year. I know you need a Philippine passport, but I would think they do the same thing.

Here is the link for the outreach program they have. It is currently suspended, but you can check back and see when they will be near you.

You got yourself in a little mess there but nothing that cannot be cleaned up I think.

To get a state ID in Arkansas you need to have the I-551 stamp and a piece of evidence from the second category.

https://www.dfa.arkansas.gov/images/uploads/driverServicesOffice/ProofOfLegalPresenceandId.pdf

To get into a field office for your I-551 you need to show ID. an expired green card (plus your new letter) should do the trick, but it may not.

You stated you filed a new I-751 and got an extension letter with that. Until that application gets a decision, all computer systems will show you are legally in the country.

You do want to get a new passport regardless.

Start working on that as well.

UPDATE:

Thanks so much for your responses. I was able to get an infopass appointment and went in the office today. I was able to get in with my expired gc, everybody there were nice. I brought passport size photos and got an I-551 stamp on a card since I don’t have a passport. The stamp is valid for a year.
