Wow! I had NO idea. Just read it and you are right! As an African Immigrant, it is eye opening that my ability to immigrate here rode on the waves of the Civil Rights Movement. Thank you for educating me. We need to educate ourselves as immigrants here and help build this country.

That's pretty funny. It was risk taking, law abiding immigrants in the inner cities who mostly suffered when they had their businesses burned down and looted by BLM, Antifa, and these radical leftist movements that can't get people to buy into awful ideas so try to attain power through authoritarian means. It was clear with these violent political acts and ridiculous arguments juxtaposing US history with US in 2020 (two extremely different American societies in respect to racism) that they're not uniting anything. While people from all across the political spectrum condemned what Chauvin did and demanded justice for Floyd, the left, their wonderful media, and other deranged opportunists who took it upon themselves to sow division and wreak havoc. We saw as they demanded weak-willed people get on their knees, in cowardly fashion, complying, while they stood to lord over them not as equals but of tyrants getting weaker people to submit. This is one person who will not submit, my non-white immigrant wife is right by my side.. these movements can learn to win over hearts and minds like everyone else, with good ideas, or take a hike. The physical and psychological abuse of political opponents is what won't be tolerated.

Calm down. I don't see where in my post, I talked about Antifa, radical left, burning businesses etc.

I talked about protests against injustice and racism towards black people. Unless you are against people standing up for their rights and protesting against racism, your rant is mislaced. Standing up against injustice is not "submitting" and standing up to support civil rights and racism doesn't make your race irrelevant. The sticking point in my post was that without the push by the civil rights movement to repeal and amend the racist immigration laws of this country, your non-white immigrant wife wouldn't be here. Let that sink in! Peace to you!

Except 1) you're wrong (she doesn't need to thank black people, immigrant laws have been in the US since inception -- also these aren't merely "protests"), and 2) the logic espoused here is what's being used to justify burning down countless businesses of legal immigrants (many of whom are non-white) who did no injustice to anyone. In fact, if you look through their eyes, they see predominantly black people burning down and looting their stores, precisely the people you say they should be thanking. That's just putting myself in someone else's shoes, of course. You'd not catch me pulling these sort of stunts to those people, but thankfully there's no ounce of tact to this nutty movement.

You're going off tangents and ranting again. If you cared about facts, you will know that the looting and rioting is being done by people of all races and actually is a very tiny minority of the protests occurring all over the country. An overwhelming majority of the protesters are actually non-black (white, Latino, Asian etc.) people who are standing up and supporting their black fellow citizens against the injustices they have faced.

You seem to have a fascination for antifa, radical lefts etc. and that is OK. This is not a political post. This is a post against racism and injustice. If you don't support the cause against racism and injustice, maybe just declare your stand instead of beating about the bush with Antifa etc. Just know that your disagreement doesn't change anything. Those who believe in equality, justice and anti-racism, will keep fighting for the cause. Peace to you!

Or you could be less passive about calling people racist because they don't see racial issues in your lens.

Apparently, not even the (security) cameras' lenses:

If you were to try and explain with the demographics of that location, you might have an actual argument, but instead you went with the false idea that everyone is doing these things equally. Incorrect.

My "fascination" with these people, from Antifa (overwhelmingly white), to BLM (overwhelmingly black), both overwhelmingly extreme left, is due to their prevalence and due to popular public discourse favoring their extremism. The idea of thanking one race is right in line with them. We thank the United States, not black or white or yellow or brown people.

Also, not sure if you're aware, but this is in a political subforum, so political posts happen here. No doubt, singling demographics out and telling them how to think, who to thank, mentioning political civil rights leaders (and mangling their contributions), etc. is most certainly political.

Anyhow, have fun conflating extremism with fighting racism. Racism was already at the best it had ever been in US history, unfortunately, some clearly prefer race conflict, which is why they try and solicit/monetize (financially or with political capital) racial conflicts. This is their comically reckless strategy of how they plan to attain power. I have more faith in the US.
