@meadowzephyr Congratulations! It does indeed feels a bit surreal to finally be done with everything immigration related. It's a great feeling but I'm a bit crazy so I'll probably miss it too as it's been such a big part of my life for several years now.

You all were right, she did not ask for my birth certificate at all. After that she asked the final oath questions (he had a modified oath),

Congratulations 🎉🎈🍾🎊! You must be relieved because of the BC being a non issue.

Mind telling us about the modified oath if you are comfortable?

did that increase your processing times by additional scrutiny ?

THANK YOU! 😊

The modified oath doesn't appear to have increased processing time at all. Very happy about that. He explained his reasons and the IO was very understanding.

I had my Oath ceremony this morning. I'm glad they didn't give me my certificate on the day of the interview. Although, the ceremony was very quick, it was still quite pleasant and exciting. I had to admit that I even teared up a little when the immigration director of the Portland office welcomed us new citizens of the USA after we took the Oath.

Good luck to all of you who are still waiting for the interview. The journey is almost over!

Hello. What document should you bring to the interview (based on a 5 year rule)? I have not received an interview letter yet, but I just wanted to check for the future.

Your Interview Letter

Your Passport that has your original Visa and that shows all of your intl trips in the last 5 years.

Your Driver's License/State ID

Green Card

It's highly advisable that you also bring tax transcripts from the last 5 years and any documents proving that you've resolved any traffic violations if you have any.

Im applying with an outstanding I-751 I haven't heard anything about a combo interview. Does anyone know if they contact applicants and advise them of this? Not sure if I should ask my wife to take the day off work if its gonna be a waste. Also does anyone have any experience of what happens if they don't conduct a combo?

From reading hundreds of posts by other members on this website, no USCIS doesn't contact you to let you know about any potential combo interview. It has happened though, that a few applicants have received one letter for the N-400 interview, and one for the i-751. This doesn't seem very common though, most of the time it's only an N-400 letter (and as with all letters, this too is generic meaning it won't mention anything about your particular case, such as if you have a pending i-751).

I would highly recommend bringing your wife just in case, it would be horrible having to reschedule the i-751 interview if it turns out to be a combo and they ask for her. Not worth the risk of not bringing her, imo.

If it's not a combo, ie your i-751 case hasn't been transferred to the field office yet, then one of two scenarios will happen.

1. They simply tell you to go home again and reschedule your interview later when they receive your i-751 so they can conduct a combo interview, or

2. They still go through with the N-400 interview but can’t make a decision until they receive your i-751.

Have you tried to call and ask for a Tier 2? I'm thinking they would be able to tell you if the field office has received your i-751.

I am on the exact same boat, yet, about 3 weeks ago I went for an info pass to get a new stamp on my passport since my 18 months letter expired. The officer checked the system and told me that he can see my pending i751 and it is still at the national benefits center, but he also said I can also see that very soon you will be contacted for your N400, when they send you, come here with your wife.

February 22nd I got my biometrics reuse notice, March 15th the interview notice for April 23rd. on the website the estimated completion time jumped to 9 months after the interview notice, not sure why but that's what is says.

no contact about a combo yet, just going by what the officer said and I will bring my wife with all documents we submitted for the i751 + documents between filing n400 and now.

the other issue is that when I got the stamp, the officer asked me to hand my expired Greencard, he voided it and when I asked if he would give it back he said no now you use your passport instead, I am worried since I know during the oath ceremony I'll need to surrender it? but I don't have one now!

Nothing to worry about, it doesn't matter which officer takes your greencard (at infopass or oath), they just don't want random greencards floating around out there. When they ask for it at the oath, you just explain why you don't have it. This is common, they almost always take people's greencards at the infopass since there's no use for the card anymore after the extension letter expires, the officer at the oath knows this.

I gave my 10 year greencard at the oath but didn't bring anything else, the lady asked if I didn't have more documents to hand in (EAD, AP, conditional greencard etc), I was like "Can't find them".

Writing with the very update you both need! Hubby received the interview letter for N-400 last month; interview was scheduled for yesterday (March 19). His i-751 was still outstanding and had been at NBC since March 2020 (filed in April 2019). He never received any updates about the status of the i-751 or if the interview would be a combo interview. The letter indicated it was just for N-400.

Fast forward to yesterday. The IO was incredibly nice and friendly, he essentially said "I see your i-751 has been pending for nearly two years--let's get it done." So, hubby ended up having a combo interview yesterday without any advance notice. I was waiting outside, just in case, and we brought along all of our binders of evidence and original documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.) to be prepared, but the IO didn't even up asking for any of it. After forty minutes, hubby was approved for both i-751 and N-400. Oath ceremony on Tuesday!

My interview was scheduled on March 18, at 9:45 am. I went inside at 9:30, after the security and temperature check, I was told to go into the waiting room.
When I arrived there, I saw maybe around 8-10 people waiting. After about 45 mins, my name was called.
The officer was extremely nice and considerate. He told me that my I-751 removal of conditions had not even been touched for almost 2 years, so he had taken care of it and approved it even before he called me in.
He asked me if I had any questions or comments. I said yes, life update is that me and my wife just had a baby.
The interview was quick, he got right into the civic questions, I answered 6 out of 8 correctly.
Then he asked me what do I do, and asked for my child's birth certificate. The yes/no questions. And that was it.
He DID NOT ask for any other documents or questions.
Unfortunately their system was not working so he couldn't do the oath ceremony for everyone there but told me the next one is on April 1st. I was fine with that.
I was extremely nervous the night before, but just took the basic documents that were asked for. My wife and baby were outside in the car, and i told him that but he said that's fine, we won't need them to come inside.
Best of luck everyone. It was a long wait to get inside that room, but thank Goodness, its finally over.

Congratulations
