N400 online application - files uploaded

Thank you for that, I wish I knew before I applied. I even searched to see if anyone else having the same issue had posted. I asked the IO about what could be the issue and he said he didn’t know and that it was IT releated.

Internet Explorer...? Microsoft no longer updates Internet Explorer which means it is vulnerable to hackers and viruses. Way to go, USCIS!

 

I really hope they update that one day. Thanks for letting us know.

I’ve been using Chrome as standard and the only issue with the USCIS webpage was when I deleted one file and then on refresh, all files were gone. Not sure if that had anything to do with the browser choice but anyways, uploading was never an issue using Chrome..

Yep, that has to do with the browser. I ran into the same issues when we were uploading documents (I use Chrome Primarily as well) on the initial application and they would be there and then when you went to save and review, all the documents would no longer be uploaded, they were just gone like the other users experienced. Switched to Internet Explorer as per all the other responses I found about it and it worked properly.

I know right!! Absolutely crazy that they haven't had a developer go in and fix the coding and bugs and expand or completely replace their core build they used for IE with Chrome or Firefox, etc...but you know that requires logic and common sense and that is not something easily to come by these days, let alone with USCIS.

I know right!! It's even more infuriating because USCIS doesn't even seem to be aware of this problem. On their own website, they state this:

Someone should really let them know that this is not the case and that they need to update their website...

All US government only uses Internet Explorer or Edge.  They arent allowed to download outside programs (like chrome or firefox) onto government computers. It must have come with windows to be viable.

I would appreciate then if the USCIS pages/instructions/websites would update to let us know that, as well as USCIS themselves knowing that. Based on @rekrap's posts it sounds like even USCIS's own IT people and customer service folks aren't even aware that this is what the problem is. Typical bureaucracy where the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing it seems.

 

And it's even more baffling that the official USCIS webpages claim that using any updated browser is fine (see above post for link).

Well they could possibly work, but the system isn't designed for it.  So the form was submitted but the uploads were mucked. 

 

The only reason I even know there's an issue is because my hubs works for the FAA.  His computer doesn't even work without his security badge in it. He told me back in 2012 to only use IE with government websites.

I saw the same issue and my Case snapshot is showing blank. Basically zero documents uploaded. I can also confirm that using IE will not avoid this issue. I saw the posts here before I applied and did all the uploading in IE 11 exclusively. It's just a nasty bug with their form - and an easy to reproduce one at that (looking at the number of people coming across it in just over a span of a month). 

 

I also uploaded all docs via the unsolicited uploads section now but feel terrible about the uncertainty it has added to my case now. Will they send an rfe. Will the see the uploads I added later on? Who knows!

Have seen several reports in various N400 threads now that the browser doesn't matter, several people have ended up with the same issue in Explorer and Edge. So it seems to be pure luck if you manage to get all documents uploaded properly.

Same issue happened to me yesterday, all documents missing and no mention in PDF.

The same happened to me as I mentioned earlier. I'm just hoping given the frequency of this bug just being reported here that the USCIS staff will know where to look if there's a submission with zero uploads. 

Has anybody reached out to USCIS about this as this is a pretty major bug if someone ends up getting an RFE for this which can add several months to the already long processing time. I left a secure message but got a rather vague reply. meh

I was asked originally to upload the Green Card and marriage certificate. I uploaded them now under the category "Identity/Travel Documents" for the GC and "Other" for the marriage certificate. I hope these are the proper categories for these docs.

 

Used Chrome BTW and they show up now on the list of uploaded documents.
