I use the Check processing time  link, and it said September for a case inquiry. what does that really mean ? I am approved? I have an interview? also I seen some information on the forums about filing a DS -160 form, exactly what is that for ? is it necessary ? is that a form I need to fill out and is there a fee associated with this form ?

I am approved? No your not approved. Your file has just started the journey. You may not hear anything till September. With the current conditions maybe longer.

I have an interview? No you do not have an interview. You must receive your NOA1 then your NOA2 then it has to pass through NVC for a case number and then shipped to the embassy where you will schedule your interview.

also I seen some information on the forums about filing a DS -160 form, exactly what is that for ? That is a required form but doesn't get completed till you have the interview. It's one of the documents that is required for the interview.

is it necessary ? Yes it's necessary. is that a form I need to fill out and is there a fee associated with this form ? No fee is associated with that form.

Be sure to download a copy of the PDF in the first post of this thread.

Okay so I'm just looking through this thread and so far it's some good info! I do want to know more about what the background checks consist of? I'm really concerned about my social media and whether I should make it more about me and my fiance being together and stuff. Do they check your Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc at least in this part of the process (before the ds160 interview)? Should I post more about my relationship on social media? (I'm really not that type of person 😂 but I guess If I need to do it to increase chances of success then I'll do it)

To know more about the background checks, see my article here

Don't worry about background checks and social media accounts. They are interested in only if you are a good person. No need to add more about your relationship.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

How do you think do USCIS services work on petitions during the quarantine? They accept documents now, but do they work on them?

Those that in the NOA2 thread for March 2020 are reporting that they are getting approved and a NOA2 is mailed and or texted to them. That's how we know.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process

  • "the man with the gold makes the rules" and
  • it will take as long as it will take
  • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
  • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
  • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience- yours and theirs are not the same
  • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

Good afternoon Greenbaum

maybe you can assist me. Do you think it’s normal for us to be waiting almost a year to get an interview date.  My husbands Documnets were qualified on June2019 all fees are paid. It’s now 10months and now with the pandemic I don’t know when he get here. Port au prince is taking forever to give an interview date. I am so frustrated

Control what you can control and leave the rest alone. This is a long road, by the time you reach another plateau things will have changed.

I would go over to the IR-1 thread and ask your question there. I'm sorry but this thread is for K-1 visa applicants and most of do not understand your visa.

Is it an automatic denial if I don't have a job by the time they ask for proof of income even though my mother is supposed o be sponsoring? I am actively searching and the pandemic isn't making the search easier. I am also currently living with my parents still.

These are times that we can't say with any certainty what will or will not happen. I suggest you relax until such time as we get through this. You may be chasing a squirrel up the wrong tree only to find it in another three.
