Past processing time

My case is past processing time so I sent in an inquiry about it and was told that it's delayed because they're waiting for security checks to get back. Has anybody ever heard of this happening?

Very common, especially for high-fraud countries.

But the US is not a high fraud country. They are checking my security, before they send it abroad. I'm the petitioner.

Your background, as the petitioner,  is checked as part of the process.

The petition is mostly about the petitioner and your background check . . . Did you list any crimes on the petition?

No crimes, not even a parking ticket, but I have been married before under another name, so I'm still using that sur name.

You can get a personal copy of your FBI report if you want.

 

If you moved around a lot that can cause a delay.

If you got your citizenship after 3 years or a divorce waiver and quickly filed for a K1 that can cause issues too. 

If you have had extensive international travel that can cause a hit.

Well that's what is probably causing it cause I had extensive international travel under 2 different sur names.

Nobody knows exactly what triggers additional background checks. It could be a travel history or working in certain fields, an extensive immigration history, etc.

Another common possible cause is a hit on the name check. Even if don't have a criminal history, it's possible that somebody with a similar name does and they were not able to clearly rule you out as that person. So a manual check has to be done.

 

Either way, it's not that uncommon and it's just a waiting game now.

CSC processing July 2019 petitions. So your case is not past processing time.

I checked and almost every single petition filed near or on my date of receipt has already been approved so i know I m well out of processing time.

Not according to USCIS, which is the only thing they care about: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

USCIS doesn't care if you are around others with approvals. They are only after one thing and that is that you check out from all your background checks. I hope USCIS is doing a good job as it's a dangerous world out there.
