I am in the same situation. My fiancé is in Nigeria and I just filed for him in December. I’m hoping this will work itself out but from what I’m reading the news isn’t good.

Keep the faith. It's all we can do. God will provide the way. Honestly look at it like this. At least your interview is before the it actually takes effect. The complete details of everything are still going to have to be sorted out. There just isnt enough information or direction yet for those of us who are right on that cusp of this change. Keep your head up. I found this off travel ceac site for the Original country ban. Continue as normal....focus on having a good interview...then go from there

Really?! Chai!! I'm slightly shocked. They have the capability to do so I believe...its if they will actually get it together and will do it. I pray so for their citizens sake. Let them get something right for their country.

So basically are you saying he would have to become a permanent residence let's say in Ghana? Then we would have to get married again in Ghana? And then apply all over again but it would then be through the Ghana embassy? I'm confused exactly how this would work

The issue will not be at the NVC.  It is at the consulate.

No.  Residency does not equal passport.   Some people have dual nationality by birth or other methods. The best advice to to interview and hopefully the CO will recommend a waiver  OR maybe Nigeria will get off the list.

Hi, I am a Nigerian, resident in Nigeria but presently I am divorced and have a 6 year old child. My father is a citizen of the USA and is resident there. I also have been to the USA on visiting several times. I  have a valid b1 visa and I am also in a committed relationship with a US citizen, we had planned getting married in the US this year. With the new travel ban on Nigeria, what is my fate? Can I go on my b1 Visa, get married and my partner file for me? Or get my father to file for me? Or wait in Nigeria till the ban is lifted?Please opinion are welcome.

No!!!!!!  That is visa fraud!!!!!!  You can not enter the US via a tourist visa with the intent to stay and adjust status.  It is a violation of the terms of service for VJ to condone visa fraud..

Hi, so I’m new to this group and was wondering if someone would please help me with this question:

My fiancé is in NIGERIA and recently just proposed to me, I’m planning to travel to Nigeria this April so we could get the K-1 visa packet signed and finalized so I could submit it once I get back. But the problem now is that Trump added Nigeria to the list of countries banned from entering the United States. Would my application NOT be considered? Should I still file the K-1 or would it be a waste of time and money??

This new ban affects only those applying from abroad. Which is, consular processing.
