Hello group! Congratulations on your NOA2!

I have a question... What exactly is a package 3 or 4? Is that an e-mail you should get with instructions from the embassy or is it the documentation needed for the interview?

I am Venezuelan🇻🇪, but less than a year ago the American embassy closed because of political issues. Now, all Venezuelan cases are going to be treated in Bogota, Colombia🇨🇴. So I'm not sure which instructions I should follow... This an stressful situation for Venezuelans do to all the traveling and logistics, but we will survive hopefully!!💕

Hello CV. Did I miss sending you the P3 letter for Columbia or was that someone eles?

Your are viewing the right page but not following the directions as written. Go back and reread the ODF and do exactly what it instructs you to do.

I guess i am having a moment of insanity because I reread and I am still a little lost. I am at this link  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html. What should I enter into section that requires question. Sorry if I am being difficult.

How do I update my email address with NVC: Once you receive your NOA2 approval then

contact NVC via https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-
resources/ask-nvc.html to update your email address as well as your beneficiary's email

address. This will give you an email alert when your file arrives at NVC, your case is assigned
and when the file leaves for your Embassy. Enter the petitioner's information as well as the
beneficiary's in the "empty box". Full name, Date of Birth, (use DD/MONTH/YYYY, i.e.,
08/April/2019 for the DOB field) NOA2 receipt number and WAC number.
We have found in
some cases that emails are never sent and in other cases this works well. So, your mileage
may vary.

After you get your case number from NVC it would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/16Oeg4xYRja1hqUSzF-uEaj1QiyoFnv9X/view?usp=sharing as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the P3 as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

https://co.usembassy.gov/visas/

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages and here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Ppl doing their vaccinations in Columbia can do them with anyone not connected to the approved medical center where  your exam will take place saving you a lot of money. Be sure to get a receipt that states every single vaccination that you received. See list below that are required vaccinations. Then during your medical present the receipt for the vaccinations to the Doctor and ask that they be transposed to the DS-3025 and marked COMPLETE! Very important that they are marked complete. You will use this document once you are married and filing your AOS package.

Good luck and God's speed.

Just got my NOA2, and at the same time just found out my fiance probably needs to get a new birth certificate, since the one she has on hand is a "short-form". Will they need this before the interview, like on the DS-160 or through the mail or something, or do we just need it by the interview? It might take a few weeks to get a new birth certificate from BC so I'm just looking to see how urgent this may be.

Edit: And on top of that, do we need a copy of this birth certificate as well? If so, is just a photocopy made at home alright? Thanks.

You'll find all your answers in the following links and information.

You can't hurry it along at all. You must wait till you see your date on CEAC change to ready two times. The second change you can send in your P3. A copy of the P3 is linked below. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actual one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterward.

Packet 3: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/07/Packet3Instructions-K1.pdf  And Packet 4 for reference also: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/03/Packet4-MTL.pdf

For all things dealing with the US Consulate in Canada head on over to the sub-forum for Canada where they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

Birth Certificate and Police Certificate information

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aa5iWVtFniXGWavXN0zs-94dewD2Fdfy/view?usp=sharing

Here is some additional information. As was stated in the Canadian sub-forum there is an "emergency order" application in Ontario. You need the birth cert that is CERTIFIED COPY OF BIRTH REGISTRATION that has the parent's name. You don't want the "parental cert" that is a wallet-sized one with parents' names but no place of birth, doctors who attended birth etc. The parental one is for parents traveling with kids to prove custody in an easy to use/travel with the format. I hope this clears up your question. CALL the registrar and tell them you need to do an emergency application otherwise you will be waiting 15+ weeks. Absolutely the long-form is a required LIVE document needed at the interview or you'll get rejected.  I hope this info is helpful and best of luck.

In case you're doing the medical in Vancouver: Dr. Cheema requires you to schedule the interview first in order to book the medical.

Routine vaccinations such as MMR, Tetanus, Flu Shots, etc are offered free of charge in the province of Ontario. Patients can walk into any health care clinical or family physician office and receive these immunizations for free.  it would be better to go and get your vaccinations free of charge rather than pay any additional fees at these the medical exams.

Also, there is a discussion about the new requirements for PC and fingerprints found here

https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/683334-urgent-new-police-certificate-requirement/#comments

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Just thinking about the worst case scenario..

Will NVC rejects, denies, sends RFE

When NVC receives the approved I-129f from USCIS, They check to ensure that it’s been stamped. Occasionally NVC will receive a petition from USCIS and it does not have the appropriate approval stamp in the upper left-hand corner. NVC is also checking to make sure that the three criminal questions have been answered. NVC noted that there are times when the petitioner will forget to complete those questions and those questions are subsequently missed by the adjudicator.  In both of these instances, the case will then be sent back to USCIS. If one of these things occur NVC would know within the first week of receiving the case. USCIS will review your case and re-certify once everything is corrected. So, the answer is no the NVC does not issue RFE's but they will do what I outlined above.

I am at the atage where I am waiting for NVC to contact me. Now I have to fill out the I134form but I have questions. In august 2019, which is the job I'm still at niw I meet the requirements, but if the ask for 2018 and 2017 tax transcripts I didn't meet the requirements because I worked part time and the reason why I was student. Do I still need a co sponsor even if I reach the requirements this year. Also, last year because of my previous been self employed I had to pay the IRS will that be a problem?

Specifically, what supporting documents do I need for the I134 form.

Thank you.

I am at the stage where I am waiting for NVC to contact me. Now I have to fill out the I-134 form but I have questions. In august 2019, which is the job I'm still at now I meet the requirements, but if the ask for 2018 and 2017 tax transcripts I didn't meet the requirements because I worked part time and the reason why I was student. Do I still need a co sponsor even if I reach the requirements this year? Depends. Depends on your embassy and how they treat income. Others from your country who have finished interview can answer this with a little more knowledge then I or most here have about your embassy. Depends on how close you are to the poverty limit. If you are just over the mark you may want to consider a co-sponsor. If you are way above the PL then no need.

Also, last year because of my previous been self employed I had to pay the IRS will that be a problem?  No. See comments below.

Specifically, what supporting documents do I need for the I-134 form. See below.

Thank you.

1) Future income cannot be used to support you now. Neither can past income. They will care about current income first. At the time you present the I-134, it needs to show the petitioner's current income...that is how much they are earning at that time. The past income may be considered for the public charge piece as well, but current income is what is required.

It may be wise to seek a co-sponsor for now if you are near the poverty line. The I-134 is not binding, and they do not need to use the same sponsor (or any other sponsor at all) for AOS after marriage.

2) This meets or exceeds most embassy requirements:

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT: You must submit any evidence which will show that you and members of your family who will accompany you are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. Visa petitioner (US Citizen) will have to complete form I-134. If the petitioner does not qualify as a sponsor, a Joint-Sponsor should ALSO be presented (any US Citizen living in the US or Legal Permanent Resident), who will also have to complete form I-134. Both, the Sponsor (Petitioner) as well as the Joint-Sponsor, will have to present last year's income tax return transcripts. W2 form and proof of current and sustainable income (e.g letter of employment on letterhead including salary and start date, most recent salary receipts, bank accounts, the value of properties, etc.). You may download the I-134 affidavit at https://www.uscis.gov/i-134 Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

3) We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Do my co sponsor need to meet the 2017 and 2018 past income requirements too. And with that do you consider looking at 2017 poverty guidelines and 2018 poverty guidelines?

Thing is I'm the petitioner and my fiance lives in turkey where he will be interviewed at and I just want to sent the right documents to avoid RFE

Co-sponsor is held to the same standards and document requirements as the petitioner is. No difference. turkey is a tough embassy, so I would "front load" your financial documents and show 3 years for both the petitioner and the co-sponsor if at all possible.
