Passport name change as Proof of bonafide relationship

Does name change in passport after marriage is Proof of bonafide marriage .. conversely, if we dont change after marriage will that act against us?

No it has no effect. Lots of people keep there own names for many reasons.

Changing name or not has nothing to do with proving bonafide marriage. Anybody can change their name anytime they want

My wife didn't change her name, no issues so far, and it makes everything easier in my opinion.

Nothing can “prove” a bona fide marriage because that would require someone to be able to read your thoughts. You are submitting evidence, not proof. 

 

Changing your name after marriage is not even evidence of bona fide marriage - women from Quebec are not permitted by law to change their names after marriage. So by your reasoning, no one from Quebec has a bona fide marriage!

Responding to all, yes "evidence" not "proof" is key here.  My thoughts are a little different though.  In and of itself name change in a passport really isn't evidence of relationship.  Bona fide, means genuine relationship not legal marriage.  If it is customary in the bride's culture to take the husband's surname, then it is possible that not doing so, COULD be a negative factor when a Consular Officer looks at the totality of circumstances, particularly when the foreigner is coming from a high fraud country.  On the other hand, there are many legitimate reasons people will not change names at marriage that have nothing to do with the nature of the relationship.

 

Consider it a small factor, to no factor.  It's never more than that.  Concentrate on real relationship evidence instead.

Changing the name is evidence that you can do paperwork.
