My dad petitioned for me some years back under F1 ( unmarried son and daughter of US citizen over 21) I got married a year ago and I did not inform NVC. Now it’s time for my interview. Will I be denied?

Yes,  you are no longer eligible.   Since it is past the NVC you can not convert to F3.

In case the OP is also wondering "How would they know?" (which gets asked frequently), they commonly will ask at the interview if you're married.  Let's say you don't disclose the marriage....when you later on apply for your spouse, USCIS can easily compare the date on the certificate of marriage, and date of your entry into the US, then they will revoke your green card, which mean deportation.

So go then. If they ask if you are married say YES. You can show them your marriage certificate to prove you got married just recently long after your dad filed

Which would still result in a denial of the visa.  Getting married made the OP ineligible.

Is this fact? I don’t understand why OP would no longe be eligible for F3, isn’t it a fact of what category he falls into rather than which part of the bureaucracy got notified when?

So you think OP should plan to lie and leave his  spouse behind to get a green card?

No. When he gets there, he should tell them he’s married, get denied and join his wife at home

So why would he bother going and paying all the fees for medical, interview etc if he knows he will be denied? Doesn’t make much sense.

I’d investigate changing to F3 personally.

You need to notify the Consulate.

Inform the interviewing officer that you are already married. Bring a copy of your marriage certificate. They will change your visa category to F3.

Let me set the record straight. I never mentioned he should go LIE. My suggestion was he should go AS an unmarried to wit, that’s what’s contained in his file and so he should go as such.

I never mentioned he should lie for immigration benefit which makes me find your question very unfortunate. No hard feelings but I’ve had wonderful people on this platform who now are more than a family to me. We all come here to share ideas and it’s a learning process for all which helped me go thru my interview successfully, got approved, flew out and got my green card within weeks.

My comments was never intended to suggest a lie for immigration benefits.

Thanks
