By the looks of things the AOS decisions are taking about 5 months with the EAD cards taking longer....

If you get your green card can you work or do you have to have the EAD aswell?

Once you get your green card you do not need the EAD anymore. The EAD is only to allow you to work while the GC is pending.

depends on the field office. our AOS process completed in around 19 months in San Francisco recently. you should look up your field office here https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices

and then check the I-485 processing times for it

EADs are processed by the various service centers whereas as others have said, the AOS is processed by the local field offices, so the processing times for AOSs will vary greatly and some folks are seeing GCs in 5-6 months.

Once your Green Card is approved, your EAD is invalid.......A Green card give authorization to work.

It depends on your local field office how fast you might get an interview.

Which one would yours be?

Isn't it, though!  But not surprising. So many things in this process completely defy all logic.  It's another situation where it's like offering someone a snack because dinner is going to be late. But the snack takes longer to serve than the meal lol.

exactly :D
