We got our interview scheduled this week! Does this mean we’re close to the end? We filed 7/10 :)

I was under the impression this was going to take well over a year!

Hi guys, question:

So I got an RFE requesting additional evidence (sponsors tax returns and W2) for I-864. Will a copy of the tax returns with CLIENT COPY written on it be enough even tho it's got the tax preparer's info? Submitting for the most recent (3) years.

Thanks.

We didn’t have an RFE. I think we sent more than double the required evidence of bona fide marriage needed so I’m not too surprised that we didn’t get one.

We got one for his BC which we had submitted in the packet. Not sure what happened maybe they lost it because a lot of others recieved the same REF. Now, waiting patiently since submission of BC again.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if the "client copy" Tax return would be ok. What I am sure about is the Tax return transcript from the IRS website. Transcripts are the BEST option, and W2's are not needed when you submit the transcripts. Shows that the sponsor actually filed their taxes...best evidence, no questions asked.

Hi everyone! I had my biometrical appointment in the beginning of september, and while i'm waiting i wanted to ask about vaccination for the greencard. I received  in my country just DS-3025, vaccination  documentation worksheet, and i gave away  my envelope with medical exam( i-693) on a border control. Also on a website it says that this i-693 lasts like 1 year, so if i would have it i would be good. Who knows do i need to go to uscis doctor to do this i-693 again for the interview ? And how do i know what vaccination i still need to have?

From your timeline it indicates that they received it ~3weeks ago. Please realize that the adjudicator sent out the RFE notice and likely didn't just sit there waiting for your response. They likely went onto the next file in the pile. Who knows how long the next file takes to adjudicate. But you are likely in the "next to work on" pile for the adjudicator, it may just take some time. How long? Who knows?

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Our application was approved!

We were masking our nerves in the waiting room by giggling over reddit when the officer approached us and introduced himself. He brought me (USC) in for questioning (~30 mins) first while my husband stayed in the waiting room. He was very warm and friendly and welcoming! He asked me basic questions to confirm stuff from our application– it was all very chill but I reaaaallly stuttered and got nervous when he asked me my husbands phone number because I had absolutely no clue what his number is. Then he asked lots of questions like, "what did you guys do last night?", "what did you guys do last weekend", "what did you guys have for dinner last night", etc... He asked us how we met (tinder =D ) and how much we chatted online before meeting in person. He asked about trips we had taken together, how many times I have been to his country, and how much time we had spent with each others' families, and what our allergies are.

The only "evidence of bona fides" we had included in our application were a designation of 401K beneficiary statement, statement of healthcare from my employer, electric bill, lease, and affidavits. We had submitted a photo album but it was returned to us by mail a week after submitting because it wasn't the right size. So he asked me what else I had brought to share, and I basically dumped my bag out on the desk and talked through three photo albums, a receipt from our first date with goofy stuff written on it, post cards we sent each other, itineraries from trips we took, that sort of thing.

Then he let me choose to stay in the room or move to the back of the room while he questioned my husband. I chose to stay and sit in the back. He asked my husband much the same questions to confirm info from our application, and then the same questions about what we were up to over the weekend, allergies, trips, etc...

After about 10 minutes of questioning my husband, the officer told us he would recommend us for approval and apologized for not being able to tell us for certain if we were approved. He then asked if we had any questions, so I asked him when we would know for certain if we were approved. Then he asked, "have you got five minutes"? and we were like, YES!!!!! And in the end he stamped our application. We were SO stoked. It was surreal. We walked straight across the street to the pub we went to after our wedding at city hall and had a toast.

On Saturday around 6:00 AM I got an email notification that the status had been updated. What an amazing relief. 😍

congrats!

I also have the one issued a few days after my birth but for some reason USCIS doesn’t accept that. I wonder why they have a problem with yours since it’s the same one you used for the K1 visa. Anyway I would recommend reaching out to relatives in Nigeria to find the closest NPC office to process it. I got mine from the office in Surulere, Lagos.

Hi loye,

I just got RFE asking for long form of birth certificate.  Is Nigeria  now giving  a different  form of birth certificate  from the one I have from birth. Please  where can I get it. Thanks

Apparently it is different if you were born before 1992 even though is the same one we took to the embassy, USCIS only accept long form. Contact your family back home to go NPC and do 1. Attestation of birth 2. Age Declaration 3. Get two people (parents/older sibling) to do affidavit confirming that they are aware of your birth. Everything can be done in a day or two. Tell them to scan them very clear to you, so you print out and reply your REF asap. They can mail the original copies via Fedex later.
