The Troll cares not about parental wrath, a true boy after my own heart. I'm trying to teach him anger management skills. It has been building lately for him.

This is one of the interesting things about having several children, you get to see that it isn't just your parenting at fault, but rather the differing personalities of your children.

Ah yes sounds like the Tornado. She has been hearing a lot of your actions have consequences. Mommy doesn't play games.

Why ever not, huh Nola-B. ma'am?

Why should he? You think 4 year olds are great at forethought?

Even if he wasn't 4, he's like me. I never feared my parents and I'd turn whatever punishment right back on them. I sense the same from him. You put him in his room (which we do regardless), but he'll beat his fists bloody on the door.

My parents gave up at around 5. We won't, but that isn't to say that the outcome will be any different. I'm hoping with some guidance and anger funneling that he'll be fine until it cools down later in life.

I don't know if it is just a summer thing, but he's been in a right state these past few weeks. I have trouble even taking him to the store.

The Troll seems to have gotten my family's temper. Yesterday, he threw my phone on the ground while we were out shopping. It is in an Otterbox, so it was fine. However, today, he managed to get a hold of my ipad and threw it, we'll let's just say that it didn't end well. It is 6.5 years old, so not the end of the world, but I still used it.  😒

I remember how many things I intentionally broke as a child. On one hand, it is unacceptable, but on the other, I remember those uncontrollable feelings.

I was a door slammer myself. Good thing I grew up in a house built at the turn-of-last century with solid wood doors and casings because I could REALLY slam em. Drove my mother nuts. Totalitarian oppression never worked on me. Neither did sending me to my room. I liked it there.

The Tornado is pretty much the same. Now with her being 8 she likes things like the phone and computer. Taking things away and making her earn them back is the only way. Give an inch she takes a mile.

Yes summer does bring the crazy out. Our pool is my life saver. They can go 4 hours non stop in there and leave me alone. Well sorta I have to be in it or next to it but it's close enough.
