"We are dsappointed that the Walsh administration has chosen hate and discrimination," a blog post on the site from April 20 reads. "Therefore, we have decided to launch a campaign to educate the public, politicians, and civil servants about the straight community and the unique problems we face. We have determined that a parade would be the best way to promote our community and its diverse history, culture, and identity. We anticipate that the city will eventually choose to embrace tolerance and inclusivity."The group said proposed one-day event will consist of a parade and ceremony during which the "straight pride flag" will be raised over Boston's City Hall. The flag raising will be followed by speeches and outreach to the community, according to its site. "We invite Mayor Martin J. Walsh to participate and express the city's support for the straight community," reads the event's page.

It looks like the Boston Straight Pride Parade will happen. We filed a discrimination complaint and it appears the City of Boston understands they would lose in litigation. The city is now working with us on the parade. We will have the streets closed and be allowed floats and vehicles. The tentative date is 8/31 but will be finalized in the next few weeks. The proposed parade route is below. If you would like to come as an individual, march as a group, or bring a float or vehicle, then get in touch. This is our chance to have a patriotic parade in Boston as we celebrate straight pride.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I had assumed Boston would be more progressive and accepting.

Diversity is our strength.

Two words: competitive victimhood.

That "straight pride" flag is hideous though...it's worth of the "eyewatering" and "bad colors" distinction of flag grading criteria.

I object to straight pride, I am transplanted straight from liberal New England moved to conservative Midwest, I should be my own special different. I am not sure straight is inclusive enough to define me

There are lots of obsolete laws that do not stand the sniff test in today's society, do I think was it ever illegal is taking it to extremes or do you still think Catholics in Rome are persecuted? Can you be denied housing/health services? No, not legally. Are the people organizing the straight rally trying to organize their parade in a country where it is ok to kill non-straights, not the last time I checked, Boston was in the US. I support gay rights, I do not support the over the top display. Last pride parade I saw had dykes on trikes, leather wearers, oddly dressed people prancing around, have pride in who you are, do not feel the need to shove your sexuality in my face.
