There are lots of obsolete laws that do not stand the sniff test in today's society, do I think was it ever illegal is taking it to extremes or do you still think Catholics in Rome are persecuted? Can you be denied housing/health services? No, not legally. Are the people organizing the straight rally trying to organize their parade in a country where it is ok to kill non-straights, not the last time I checked, Boston was in the US. I support gay rights, I do not support the over the top display. Last pride parade I saw had dykes on trikes, leather wearers, oddly dressed people prancing around, have pride in who you are, do not feel the need to shove your sexuality in my face.

Obviously the Romans were not keen on the the orginal Britons, then we had Normans, Vikings, French, Germans well it goes on.

They were not that keen on Christians either, time for some Monty Python?

My point was the Romans killed Christians for being Christian, history is not relevant in this regard as Rome is fully esconsed as a Christian city today so what was is not what is

Absolutely, times change, times have changed several times in my life time, difficult to keep up.

Oh wow. I wasn't expecting you guys to take it all the way back to 27 BC!  I was thinking in terms of US history. Yes, today, in many states in the US, I can still be denied equal housing and equal health care. Up until the 1970's, gays could be jailed for congregating with other gays in the US. And still today, in many countries, gays can be put to death. Luckily, we are not put to death in the US, or jailed anymore.

I guess I never really thought about how straights are treated less than in the US, today. I'll try to educate myself more on the plight of the straights.

Start with LA see how equal housing works there. Equal Health Care? How does that work for anybody in the US?

This isn't about being treated as "less", it's about not being ridiculed for being proud of who you are. Seems pride has been usurped by a non-inclusive group that happens to be the minority

They seem to be expecting a low turnout, does that make them a minority?

But for some of us, it is about being treated as less, in addition to not being ridiculed for being proud of who we are. And the LGBTQ community is one of the most inclusive communities you will find. We are about loving everyone, and letting everyone be who they want to be. I'm sorry that you don't like the "dykes on trykes, oddly dressed people, and leather wearers" whom you feel are "shoving their sexuality in your face." That comment alone shows your true self, and just shows how you are ridiculing them for being proud of who they are, exactly what you don't want done to you as a straight person.

The leather wearers as I described them actually were walking leashed humans, that crosses the line for me, if as you say, that shows my true colors, so be it or do you consider a bondage fetish a matter of sexuality? Love who you like, do who or what you choose, I would be equally offended by a display of heterosexual fetishes in public. Time and place

Hmm

So what about this?

https://www.scotsman.com/news/crime/feminist-speaker-julie-bindel-attacked-by-transgender-person-at-edinburgh-university-after-talk-1-4942260

A leading British feminist, who campaigns against violence towards women, has claimed that she was attacked in Edinburgh last night by a transgender person.

Julie Bindel, the keynote speaker at an Edinburgh University event which discussed the future of women's sex-based rights, said she was verbally abused, "lunged at" and almost "punched in the face", by a transwoman as she left the building.

I'm sure the overall number of straight people with the desire to participate in a "straight pride" parade out of spite is quite low. I'm not sure that qualifies them as a minority though.

No community is perfect. We all have flaws. There are bad seeds in every community. But I do believe the incidents of violence against LGBTQ by others is higher than it is the other way around. I haven’t heard of groups of gay guys beating straight people unconscious and dragging them to their death behind a pick up truck, or of gay guys jumping straight peolple leaving clubs at night at 2am. Those are things that have actually happened to us in Texas.

I don’t condone violence against anyone. I do know that the speech Julie Bindel gave was considered transphobic by some. Doesn’t sound like she was injured. Hope she’s ok, and that she is enlightened.

Tell that to Martina Navratilova, or the lady that lost her job in Baltimore when they spoke about the "T" part of the LGBTQ inclusive community.

By the way, as stated earlier, everyone is a victim as well as a victimizer.
