Hi! My company needs to send me to the US for Sales Training. I applied for a B1 visa and had my interview last April 1, my visa was denied. I need to get a US visa because most of our training will be in the US and we have a yearly Sales Kick-off there.

I presented the Invitation Letter, Guarantee Letter and Certificate of Employment but still denied.

I have been to the US before for vacation with my parents. My last visit was in 1990. We had a multiple visa at that time. In 1992, our passports were stolen and our US visa was still active.

There is a training scheduled in the US this June and I have another interview schedule with the US embassy on May 17.

I have been to other countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam. I even lived in Malaysia for one year for work, this was legal with permit.

Any advise on why my visa has been denied. I an single but have a daughter here so I have definitely have no plans of staying in the US.

Please help.

Thanks!

I was going to guess but lets be clear, where did you apply for the visa?

unless the circumstance surrounding the VISA in which you need to have strong ties to your home country have changed you are likely to be denied again May 17.

you might have to attend this training from a remove location via skype which can be done, so having an invitation letter for this tanning isn't a real benefit

It all boils down to whether the Consulate Officer thinks you are at risk of staying in the US.  Perhaps a live video training session would work?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Will it help that I tell them that I have a daughter and caring for my 71 year old mother here in the Philippines. I was not able to mention that during the previous interviews. The training is really classroom setting and requires sales people worldwide to be in the US.

from my understanding most B1/B2 visas and really most all visa for that matter are made up a decision even before the interview, so unless there is a chance on the DS-260 form, "I think I have the correct form for the visa" either way unless there was new information on that form they are not likely to care what you tell them at interview however who knows maybe you will get a different CO this time.

Would it help that I mention during the interview that I have a daughter here in the Philippines and also taking care of my 71 year old mother. Honestly, I have no plans of staying in the US. I only applied because of the training.

Live training session through video will not work. This training is for all sales people worldwide.

Children are left behind commonly so that is not relevant.

How will you be able to attend if you are caring for your Mother?

I would imagine that knowing the issues in PI your Employer has a Plan B.

It's DS-160. 🙂 But it's my company that asked me to apply again as I need it for future travels there for training and sales kick off. Hopefully I get approved this time. Thanks!

I would think there are other people from various countries that also have visa issues. The employer surely has a backup option.

The previous travel history is good, so that is a plus. The previous US travel is really irrelevant since it has been, what 20-22 years ago? Like most others have said unless circumstances or information changes, it likely will be the same result, but of course are free to try.

It's 1 week training and I have no plans of extending my stay. I have asked my niece to stay with them just in case.

That is exactly the benefit of video training. Seems that video training sessions would be much more convenient for you if you have such responsibilities in your country........and much more economical for the company paying for the trip.........but I hope you succeed in your quest.

There is no guarantee you’ll get to mention about daughter and mon during the next interview and even if you get a chance, it may not affect your chance of approval at all.
