So, my husbdand is trying to obtain his tax transcript online on irs.gov but it wont let him. Recently, we just filed his tax return with h&r block as married filing jointy. Whenever he’s trying to register in irs.gov and put married filing jointly, it wont let him. But when he tried putting single, it goes in. 

How should we do this

If you filed just recently give it a few weeks to go through and try again. It took at least 3 weeks for mine to work after filing

I have never had to "put married filing jointly" anywhere on the irs website when I want to download/print transcripts, are you sure you're doing it right?

 

You can also order by mail, if that works better for you. You don't need to register an account to do that.

Call the IRS and ask them to fax you the transcript. Make sure your fax machine is on.

Oh my goodness, who has a fax machine at home anymore? So impressed. 

 

OP, if you don't have a fax machine but would like it faxed, you can get a fax number online for free or a couple of dollars, and have it sent there too. It'll come as email.

Can they even fax a transcript? This isn't the year 2000...POTS lines are not qualified to transmit or receive PII-sensitive or PII-enhanced data. Also, how would they perform identity proofing before sending it? It seems kind of easy to steal somebody's info this way.

They verify your details.

But I don't think that you would share such details with anyone.

No you need to have your fax machine online and call via the cell number mentioned in the IRS documents. This is how we got ours.

I called it just now.

There was no option to fax. The only option via phone was to send it via mail.

They only verified SSN + house number (not street, city, or state). Although, it will require access to the mailbox, so that is better.

Can he still get his latest transcript? We just filed his taxes with h&r block and we did it as married filing jointly. But i still have to wait for my itin. Can he get his latest transcript without my itin yet?

You can't request a transcript for a return that you just submitted. Wait until your return is processed. I filed ITIN with joint tax return, and it took 8 weeks (Mailed on Feb 4; received ITIN on Feb. 26; refund received Mar. 27). Once i received the refund, i requested the latest transcript, which arrived five days later.
