A duplicate post with happy news has been removed -- OP has own thread.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hey guys, so on this lovely Saturday morning i received my RFIE letter on my case. 🙃 It is for me to “submit a copy of the birth certificate issued by the appropriate civil authority for the applicant. It then goes on to mention only accepting long form certificates  with parents name and about translation to English.... etc

I was born in Birmingham, UK it’s hand written, It is a long form stating both my parents name and signed by the Registrar too.

Could the problem be that it’s handwritten? I read one person got theirs translated [ English to English) so it would be typed up instead?

Do you think i need to do that also?

Our journey so far:🙂

03 /12/19- Sent I-130, I-485, I-131 & I-765 (via USPS)
03/14/19 - Arrived at Chicago lock box
03/19/19- NOA1 via text (all petitions NBC)
03/22/19- Biometrics notice
03/25/19 - NOA1 via mail for AOSEAD & AP
03/30/19- NOA1 for scheduled biometrics appointment (via mail)
04/12/19- Biometrics appointment completed

I am confused. Did you submit handwritten version with your I-485 and then got RFIE for it?

Sorry no, i submitted a copy of my original official birth certificate.

I was meant so say in the UK the Registrar fills in the birth certificate by hand and that it’s not typed on the computer.

That’s weird I’m from the UK and did exactly the same. Not heard anything about an RFIE yet but my case has been set to ready to be scheduled

Yh, it so weird but its minor. They’ve probably misplaced it or don’t like the queens English! Lol I’m on the phone to my mum like what kinda dodgy certificate did you get done lol 😂  I read a lady from Wolverhampton was asked for an English translation of her BC as her RFIE.

The upside they've looked at my case and I didn’t wait longer to hear from them!

I've also read on other threads that people had this same issue even though their BC was in English. Someone theorized it may be a delay tactic on their part

I also read about that happening to someone in the November thread, where they were asked for a translation of their English BC. I think they ended up scheduling an InfoPass appointment and the officers there were confused too lol and assumed someone lost the original BC or it was a mistake.

I would probably call USCIS and ask to speak to a Tier 2 as well as schedule an InfoPass appointment. If all else fails you can resubmit it with a cover letter explaining that this is the original certificate and that it meets the Department of State reciprocity guidelines for the UK: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/UnitedKingdom.html I believe those are the requirements that USCIS uses to determine if a civil document is in its official form / acceptable. More likely than not, they misplaced it somewhere.. sorry you have to deal with this and hope it gets resolved soon!
