I don't know that "immigrants" can be equated with "illegals".  There is a big difference between having legal immigrant status that cannot be questioned by officers, and those who are found to be in the country without any status/authorized stay at all.

 

This part was interesting for me though:

 

ICE officials have said the directive will create severe challenges and leave it with no choice but to conduct at-large arrests in local neighborhoods and at worksites, which it said will inevitably result in additional collateral arrests and won’t be as safe as arrests at jails and prisons.

 

If anything, it gives ICE the incentive to do more raids as a way of rounding more illegals up all at once.  Many would see that as a good thing.

"Illegals." What does that even mean? When you drive under the influence, endangering lives, you're not an "illegal." When you evade taxes, or commit wire fraud, are you an "illegal"? Darnit, not even terrorists and mass murderers are considered "illegal." All are lawbreakers, but yet when you cross the border without valid entry documentation, some brand you "illegal," as though your very humanity were illicit.

I do wish USCIS would re-name certain terms used in their own policy manuals and forms...I always hated the term "alien" or "resident alien"...like I was from some different planet altogether.  My 12 year old, on the other hand, thought it was hilarious and introduced me sometimes as "my alien mother".

To be fair, when the laws and guides were first created, people weren't thinking of space at all. I'd be more inclined to believe writers and producers adopted the alien terminology to describe their stories, whereas "alien" has been used for almost a millennium to describe foreign nationals and citizens.

If anyone is following STILL, can anyone explain about this message? So, her 30 days to make an appeal has expired. Now she received the notice. What’s next?

It looks like a routine, perhaps computer-generated acknowledgment that she attended her interview.

The 8-page letter from the IO is the one on which to focus.  Do you have an update?

As of today, no. Just that her 30 day’s up! Now, it’s a waiting game. Her GC doesn’t expire until 2023. Does that mean she can still look for work? If nothing else happens?

She remains a permanent resident until an immigration judge revokes her green card.

She can work till they revoke her LPR. She needs to plead guilty (probably she will not which is will make the case much longer ) and then the high immigration court in Washington DC to decide which is usually take not less than 18 months process.
