Is there a reason why most (not all) answers to the OPs question are so hostile, unsympathetic and judgmental? Wow! It’s like I can see some schadenfreude oozing out of people’s pores.

Or is OP the same person as @user12 who asked some somewhat strange obfuscating troll-like questions with a supercilious attitude? Because honestly the mockery and hostility is bewildering.

looks like same one to me  / just change the country

but all the answers are from  experienced VJ community

and the hostility started when the OP seemed to respond negatively himself

the posts are not as negative as what happens now to these 2 being together / not our call but judgement at the POE

OP admits the gf was going to stay with him (had to stay busy while he worked) and he was footing the bill (a different post from him)

so as an officer at a POE i would have refused her too/  she was coming to see bf not visit the USA

5 month before????? i thought tourist visas were 90 days ?????? correct my misinformation as i want to learn and understand

Don’t get ESTA and visitor visas mixed up. Those on ESTA are allowed three months, those on visitor visas are allowed six months unless the immigration officer has reason to give them a shorter duration.

Also there’s no material difference between visiting the USA and swing boyfriend. It’s only a problem if they ask you specifically are you visiting a boyfriend and you lie.

Anyway thanks for clarifying why the OP got hammered.

More specifically, CBP can issue an I-94 for up to 1 year (very rare), but typically issues one for up to 6 months.

It’s not just the time spent.  For example, contrast:

1) 5 months in the USA, traveling around all over, seeing many things in the country, the country is huge, you can easily spend 5 months traveling it

2) 70 days, staying at one person the whole time, enquiring about “cleaning a few houses” to make a little bit of cash and meet the family while there

...with both on a B visa and read again what a B visa is for

I was admitted for 11 months on a B-2 visa one time. Granted, this was just before 9/11 which created something of a shakeup when it came to nonimmigrant visas and durations of allowed stay...

Well according to the OP the GF didn't say anything about cleaning homes and it was a private conversation between girlfriend and boyfriend.  So unless the CBP read emails or text messages about it, apparently there was no mention to CBP about the plan to clean homes once upon a time (which we told OP wasn't a good idea and he told his gf wasn't allowed.)

Basically the main thing was, length of stay and probably not being completely honest about who they're visiting.  On VJ we always suggest shorter vs longer visits.   I get that plane tickets are expensive.  I buy them pretty frequently.  But long stays are just asking for more scrutiny.
