Hey guys! I'm here... I have a question, how much does it usually take for a case to be assigned a number? Does it really take up to 8 weeks?

Mine only took two days to be assigned. 😄

I think they only emailed just now because they literally just received our case.

I called this morning at 7am Eastern and they hadn't got our case then so I think they must have registered my email so that when the case came in they could send me the notification.

If all else fails I would call them again later today or tomorrow if I was you because I think they will get your case today or tomorrow. You are so close to ours and others that have been received in the last couple of days.

You input the email address 2nd time in AskNVC.  Interesting.  I might try that.

I first input my email way back around Oct 17th when we got the NOA2 in the mail.   Been waiting and calling EVER since.  :)Will try calling them later today and if they don't have docs from USCIS I will re-send email address.

That's the answer they gave my fiance when she called, she was devastated. But we received our case number yesterday. It didn't even take 24 hours. YMMV.

Hey guys! Quick question: is there any fee we have to pay the NVC at this point in the process? Or does that come later with the AOS

When the case arrives at the embassy (shows Ready status on the CEAC tracker) you will have to fill out and submit the DS-160, and then pay the fee associated with that form, which I think is like $260.  All this is done online.  But you don't pay anything to NVC.
