10-15% flat tax no deductions .. that's what I'd vote for

100%

Flat tax for everyone, period.  But no VAT.

Why would he give all his wealth to the government? I think you are confusing socialism with communism.

Who, if not the government, would oversee the redistribution of wealth to we the people?

I think taxation is a little more complicated than simply saying we should have a flat tax.

You have had noting to say for a while now.  Just copy/paste other’s ideas without any understanding of the consequences.

But I would be really interested in an actual response to the question as to who would redistribute the wealth in a new socialistic economy for the US?  You?  The government?  Rich Hollywood actors?  Wh do YOU think should regulate that?  Can you respond to this simple question?

Are you kidding me right now? He would pay more than someone else would in taxes because he makes more!  Did you forget that he grew up very poor? His dad was a janitor in Canada and at one point his family lived in a car.  Do you think for a second that he forgets what it's like to be poor? At the very least, due to growing up in Canada, his family had healthcare without paying extra for anything but prescriptions.  Almost every European country and Canada have good healthcare and are able to help those helping themselves get to the point where they dont need any assistance.  There are always abusers of the system, the US has many right now but not changing to a system that benefits the majority (the middle class) the most is asinine.

Just because someone calls an elephant a duck doesnt mean that it's a duck.  When dictatorships label their "parties" as "socialist democratics" when they are actually a dictatorship that doesnt mean that's how a real democratic socialist country would operate.  If you only use falsely labeled elephants as examples of how a duck should act, you're just as bad as the person who labeled the elephant as a duck.

Laters ya'll.

I am pretty sure the mega wealthy have the most to lose, so I don't quite understand where you are coming from.

I am pretty sure in most socialist/communist systems tried in the past the mega wealthy party members remain mega wealthy while everyone else suffers.

If the mega-wealthy TRULY felt that way, why are they... “mega-wealthy”?  If they believed socialism was the right way, wouldn’t they give up 90% of their wealth without being forced to do so?

You would think, nothing stopping Mr. Buffet from paying more taxes

There actually is a way to voluntarily pay extra taxes to the federal government but I don't see Warren Buffet or any of these wealthy people pushing socialism putting their money where their mouth is.

If health care is so great in Canada, why are so many Canadians coming to America (or other countries) to be seen?

He ALREADY pays higher taxes than most of us here.  Which has nothing to do with his desire for socialism.  Not sure what you were trying to say here?

My father was a janitor when I was growing up, it's rather upsetting to hear you say how much Jim Carrey  has overcome to get where he is, my father had an 8th grade education quit school to earn money for his family during the depression, my parents had 3 kids, my brother is a lawyer, my sister has a masters of education and I have a Doctorate in Business, no one assisted him to educate us, his hard work, our hard work and the GI Bill helped us. We are more self-reliant because of this. You do realize by giving people just enough to get by you don't incent them to raise themselves up. I am not arguing to starve people or let people die from easily controllable diseases but making someone exert some effort is necessary to move the mark forward, meet all my needs and I have less motivation to work harder to improve my lot

You overcame well done.  He did too.  Others have too.  I believe basic healthcare should be a human right.  You shouldnt have to decide between your child seeing a doctor and food on the table.  For single parents in today's world where wages vs cost of living is high this is a reality and it shouldn't be.  My opinion.  Your story doesnt change that.

you missed half my point, I took offense to your attitude towards his father and by default mine, as to the rest  ... give a man a fish he eats for a day, keep giving him a fish he forgets how to fish and lives a day-to-day existence, unable to rise above
