The story is not his alone.  Without the people behind that flag which was omitted, there would not have not been a story to tell.......

Okay guys, in all seriousness.

 

There is nowadays a lot of outrage about anything. Controversy gets stirred up to get a little buzz going and ultimately whether good or bad, nets publicity which also nets $s. Honestly? Art is art. And not all art is going to be someone's cup o' tea. We aren't going to all agree out the direction of a movie or certain aspects (historical films and biopics are actually always pretty terrible for accuracy) of creative decisions. But the truth is none of us have seen this movie yet, and half the people that are weighing in on it in opinion pieces haven't seen it either, and I like to actually see art for itself before determining how much it annoys me or offends me. The director has stated the film does show the flag on the moon, but does not show the physical act of planting it. The Armstrong family (of which this movie has much of the perspective based) has stated they are pleased with the film's direction. The bottom line is - go see it for yourselves and after watching the film in the context then decide if you're offended by it. If you still are, that's fine. If you're too offended in the first place to go see it, then don't. Otherwise this is sort of one of those controversies that's not really so much a controversy, but will generate great buzz. Gosling is a great actor (seriously), and I think it looks like it'll be worth a date night to.

I’m asking because all my younger learning years, CC was touted as the explorer who discovered America. But now I have seen at least three different cartoons expressly telling kids that it is a fable.  In 20 years, two different generations of kids will believe CC had nothing to do with it.  And honestly, I am not sure which story is true now.  

Point being, with just a few cartoons, history can be erased/changed.  Ditto the holocaust.  Or the lunar landing.

Well, that makes sense, since sailing oceans can take months/years.  But to say he never set foot in America now?  Why/how did THAT change?

 

I can see the US role in the lunar landing will one day disappear if things like not planting the flag in this movie is allowed.  It is slow and methodical, it is not an overnight change.  Insidious might be a better word.  Hitler and other bad leaders burned books to eradicate history.  It is never a good thing, IMO.

I am right there with you, I was only showing how a silly little poem can make it next to impossible for me to remember a date that was very important when accuracy mattered
