Hi everyone, I need some advice. I sent my husband's I-751 on 3-7-2018 and it was received on 3-9-2018. I have not heard anything from them but I just found out tonight that they updated the form and I sent last year's form since I downloaded it in early February before they posted the new one. Has anyone else sent in last year's form and not been rejected? I checked the fees and I did send the correct fees for this year.

From what I can at least one person on this forum has received the entire package back from uscis thus, you should expect the same thing. I almost sent last year's form as well but I checked the last minute and found out I was sending a 2017 version.

I would start by transferring all the information to the new form and once you receive it you can just send it all back without delay.

Quick poll: Did you send full tax returns or tax transcripts?

I'm starting to get a little nervous because we sent tax transcripts and not the full return. The instructions say to send "tax returns" but i'm getting mixed messages when I search this site. We also didn't send W-2's because that info is on the transcripts.

Okay, if they send the whole thing back to me that would not be such a big deal since his expiration date is not until May. I was mostly worried that they would cash my checks and make me pay again!

I sent transcripts for 2015 and 2016. When I downloaded them from the IRS website it asked what it was for. I answered for immigration and it gave me a a certain layout. Im sure u will be ok. I only sent w-2 for this year. I think it shouldbt matter if its transcripts or full return im sure they are just looking that they were filed

Transcripts since they are proof that it was actually filed. I just assumed that would be better.

from what I can tell, they only cash your check if the package is accepted. If not, they will return your check along with your paperwork.

My husband's GC expires on the same date! I think there were people on this forum that submitted within a week of their GC expiration, and I feel like they got their NOA1's faster bc of that.  I don't think it will effect us though since May is a while off.  And I definitely remember you from AOS! Nice to see you back in ROC :)

ch3john, I remember you from AOS too haha! Tax transcripts always trump returns.  They contain everything that the full return does, including W-2 info - I don't think anything will happen if you didn't send the W-2's, so don't worry.

I called and asked and was told that transcripts won’t required over copies of tax returns.

We filed a week before my husband’s expires and it seemed like we got our check cashed and NOA before everyone else.  Even the people who mailed out their packages before us to the same center.  I’m not entirely sure the expiration date had something to do with it, but it’s it only plausible explanation so far that I can think of.

I also think California seems a bit slower with the NOA than Vermont.
