I sent my package yesterday to California Service Center. My GC expires on April 3rd, and I have a planned trip to go abroad by the end of April. Do you guys think I will have a chance to get my NOA before then?

Received our NOA in about 6 days after they received our package.  I think once you have used the updated forms,  they are signed and, you sent a copy of the GC and the correct fee,  you should be fine.

I have a question. My passport just expired last January and I just noticed it after sending in my application. I know it's not a requirement on the i-751 instruction but most people send it anyways and its also on the sample cover letter.

So do I have to renew my passport or it doesn't matter?

I'm getting my package ready and wasn't going to include a copy of my passport since it's not a requirement. I can't say for sure, but I would think that since it's not a requirement, then it shouldn't matter that it's expired. I wouldn't renew it just yet. If they send you a RFE (which I can't see why they would), then you would have to renew it at that time.

My husband's GC expires on the same date! I think there were people on this forum that submitted within a week of their GC expiration, and I feel like they got their NOA1's faster bc of that.  I don't think it will effect us though since May is a while off.  And I definitely remember you from AOS! Nice to see you back in ROC :)

ch3john, I remember you from AOS too haha! Tax transcripts always trump returns.  They contain everything that the full return does, including W-2 info - I don't think anything will happen if you didn't send the W-2's, so don't worry.

Haha, I remember you too! I think iPod was also in the mix during AOS

huh?

I called USCIS and asked specifically about tax transcripts versus a copy of my tax returns and they said the copy was fine.  The basic requirements for ROC are a signed form, the fee, and the copy of your GC.  Those are the only things that makes your application incomplete if missing. They won’t turn your application away if your send a copy of your taxes over a transcript.

Maybe they may ask for it later, I don’t know,, but what I said above is what the Immigration Officer told me when I called.

Yeah I don't see anyone giving out RFE's for this if it's not required.  They have all our old packets too, so I'm sure they already have a pic of the passport.

Unfortunately, the DMV is a huge pain, and it really depends what state you are in.  See this thread for more info:

You can always defer the biometrics to a later date - I know people on VJ that pushed their biometrics back more than once, and it was fine.

Apparently, only half of the CSC December filers have received their biometrics letter and none of the January (except one) or February ones, so I would say you are pretty safe.
