I know how you feel. The first thing they say is "Couldn't you find someone in your own country?"

Of course we couldn't. We are not the least bit excited about spending more than a year apart after getting married, but we couldn't connect with any one we came across in our respective countries.

I know. I was told often long distance relationships are for morons or just forget about him it's so annoying.

Looks like my case has officially been received at the NVC. I was assigned a case ID and an invoice number. In my haste, I forgot to give my email to the customer service representative (d'oh!). But I'll call and try to give it tomorrow.

My timeline thus far --

NOA1: 10/4/2016

NOA2: 4/10/2017

Sent to NVC: 4/18/2017

Case Assigned at NVC: 4/26/2017

One quick question. We have a lawyer assigned to our case. Should I still call and give my email address? Can I give both my lawyer's email address and mine? Is the DS-261 form even still valid if I have a lawyer?

DS-261 is used to assign an agent for your case, which is already taken care of, so you will not be required to complete that form. Also, as my understanding goes, you may be able to pay both fees at the same time, which will save you around 7-10 days in total.

Good luck.

What is the actual downtime for NVC?

Saturday or Sunday?

The message on NVC Case status site reads "Sunday", but the date mentioned is that of "Saturday". So confusing.
