Begging the question implies a circular argument where your answer begs your question. It isn't about asking a new question.

One way to look at it is as a spectrum. The scale is fixed, it has been defined for hundreds if not 1000s of years and you can always find individuals at the two extremes. With US elections I think the electorate tends to shift in the opposite direction of the ruling power fairly quickly. So whereas there might not have been many people on the far left even 6 months ago, there are now. Likewise more people shifted from Right to Moderate.

That is exactly my problem. We just don't have good definitions for "the middle". From what i can tell i feel like what we consider to be the middle does fluctuate, but is more static than the groups on either side which are constantly shifting.

 

That is exactly one of the reasons why i don't think a normal distribution applies. In order to have that distribution you need a true "middle" that is defined mathematically as the center of the population. Our middle is not that kind of mathematical center. It isn't set based on 50% of the population on either side. It is a matter of opinion and it is subjectively created. You can't apply a distribution to that.

Part of the problem continues to be that pictures, memes and news are being created, altered and manipulated to fit a narrative, left and right alike.

I could show you pictures of bloody people and try to make a shock statement that benefits my point of view, and it's still not the full story. 

I'm pretty sure anti Trump and Trump supporters are getting in fights and there are bloody noses in both sides. 

 

Having said that, I am appalled by all forms of violence, including that perpetuated against people that support Trump.

    I don't have a narrative or an agenda. Just because you're the king of spin doesn't mean everyone here is trying to do that.
