Hi all,

Firstly, I apologise if this is in the wrong category but I am not really sure where it should be...

I have been approved for my K1 visa and have it in my hand as we speak, I am booking my flight for the 21st January and intend to get married way before that 90 days is up... If it was up to my Fiance I think we would be married on the 27th January. So this is all sorted in that sense however this is where my confusion lies. I am trying to understand this but it seems the posts regarding prices are years old and people are saying certain fees don't have to be paid and I am just getting lost in all the information that's being given.

I have seen a post that is saying all the prices have changed and a list of those prices however I was always under the impression that the AOS price from a K1 visa was around $1070.

The old price for the AOS was $985 and is now apparently $1140

The I-765 for the work authorisation whilst AOS is being processed was $380 and is now $410

The I-131 Travel authorisation was $360 now $575.

Even with the old prices it still totalled $1725 for the all these things so where was the $1070 from? Is this people who never applied for the work and travel permit?

Now the total $2125.

So I am not sure where the $1070 came from even before the price changes.

I didn't realise that I would have to pay for the work authorisation and the travel authorisation separate when filing the AOS.

Please can someone help me and make it as simple to understand a possible

Thanks

If you file the Travel and Work Authorization with the I-485 AOS, then you will not have to pay for those two as it will be waived. You will only need to pay the amount for the I-485 AOS FEE.

^ Correct. When you add petition I-765 and I-131 with your I-485 petition, you only pay the $1070 (AOS fee + biometrics fee). Which now it around $1200 in total.

Up until December 23 (on Friday) the i-485(AOS) fee is 985 dollar and the biometrics is 85 dollar (=1070). The price for both from December 23 and onwards will be 1225 dollar (biometrics is still 85, only the i-485 price went up from 985 to 1140).

Like the above poster said, if you file i-765 and i-131 together with i-485 you don't pay anything extra for those two.

The 1070$ was the 985$ filing fee, and 85$ for biometrics = 1070$. You do not pay for filing work authorization or travel authorization, provided you file for them all at the same time.

Once the prices go up, therefore, you are looking at 1140$ + 85$ for biometrics = 1225$.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

$985 for the AOS, plus $85 for the biometrics fee, so $1070 total.

You don't have to pay the 765 or 131 fees if you file them concurrently with the AOS.

Think you got your answer over and over :) If you want to read it for yourself it's in the instructions of the i-131 and the i-765, and welcome over to the AOS forums for your future questions! :D

I really cannot believe the USCIS has raised the cost of their already ridiculously high fees even higher!
They must really not one anyone from any country to be able to afford to come to America!
Please tell me how you expect someone to afford a wedding,
a honeymoon,
& the NOW $1,140 AOS fee plus the $85 Biometric fee
ALL WITHIN 90 DAYS!
From $1070 to $1225... Just for one form!
I am really glad we only have that one left
& the Form to Remove Conditions on Residence in 2 years
& even that is now $595!
They really even raise the petition cost from $340 to $535.
Soon there will be no immigrants because no one can afford to come here legally.

I totally understand you. I just wanted to say that it's not mandatory to file de AOS before the 90 days of arriving to the usa. Of course is the best option because you don't want to be in the house all day, but in case you dont have the money, it's okay to wait until you can :) we waited almost 2 months until we felt comfortable to say bye bye to more than $1000 dollars lol. Wish you the best in this new journey! (prices are insane!)
