Men's Engagement Ring- problem for my fiance to wear it to interview??

Hi!

So to make a long story short, my fiance, being a 'clueless man' asked me before we got engaged what type of ring he would get when we got engaged! My family and I thought it was such a funny question, that my mom came up with the idea that I should give him one!

So when we got engaged, I whipped out a men's ring for him and he loved it! He wears it on his left ring finger, just like I wear my engagement ring. This may be a silly question, but I was wondering if the CO may think he's married if he's wearing it.... We didn't even think of this before sending some of our pictures with our I129F application where it is noticeable.

Could this be an issue or am I being paranoid....?

Many men in Morocco wear a ring on their left hand -ring finger

and remember to buy a silver not gold ring for him as muslim men think gold makes them infertile

what the CO thinks? maybe he should not wear the ring to the interview or wear it on the other hand

Hi,

Yes, I know a lot of men wear rings on their left hand as a 'pre-marriage' aka engagement tradition. I'm just worried that the officer in the consulate may not know this and automatically say that it's a 'wedding ring'. Obviously he has a good reason to wear it, but I don't want that to be the downfall of the interview!

Thanks for your help :)

That's "funny" pretty much all muslim men in Denmark have gold on finger and all over.

My then fiance wore a gold band on his left ring finger during our engagement. He simply left it at home the day of his interviews at the embassy. Any possible confusion avoided.

Strange

It is well known that gold is something with which people adorn and beautify themselves, but a man is not meant to do this, i.e., he is not a person who may be perfected by means of adding something, rather a man is perfect in and of himself, because of his manhood, so he has no need to adorn himself for some one else that he may like, unlike women. A woman needs to adorn herself so as to make herself attractive to her husband, thus creating a bond between her and her husband. Hence it permissible for a woman to adorn herself with gold and other things, so that the man will be attracted to her and seek her, and the purpose of marriage will be achieved, which is the propagation of the human species. Being brought up with adornments and softness is only appropriate for women; as for men, it is something blameworthy in their case. Hence Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“(Like they then for Allaah) a creature who is brought up in adornments (wearing silk and gold ornaments, i.e. women), and who in dispute cannot make herself clear?”

Actually men should not wear gold because most Islamic scholars would agree that it is haram, I have never heard of any man saying it would harm their fertility

My husband and I went with Platinum

I would say wear it. If he has a tan mark then that makes it look like he is hiding something!!

Yeah, that's the issue. We don't want to act like we're 'hiding' something, because we are not. But at the same time, we didn't want to put what could be an obstacle in our way either!

actually men cannot wear gold because gold and silk are reserved for women only to wear as a sign of beauty and adornment. It has nothing to do with fertility

my husband's is platinum and black tungsten

If you really really do not want to have any concern or worry about it, have him wear a more fashionable type of ring on that finger and have him remove the engagement band
