Oh I live in Central Texas. I used to not like it much but I think it's pretty nice. It's more on the rural side but it isn't too country either. I live by Fort Hood which is the biggest military base in America. I used to want to go to Sydney back when I was younger. It seems rather pretty and the education system always interested me. I like how they use uniforms too (I find it cute). Also CM&KV is right, that's basically what I've done thus far. I miss my fiance terribly as well :( I spent the first part of Summer with him so it was amazing. I know seasons in Australia are different though haha. Oh and with the processing, it is especially hard when you see people who file much later than you get approved before you. I'm actually a college student so I don't really have the funds to be going back and forth to Europe. It costs a lot and I have to take 3 connecting flights which is horrible. I wish you two good luck with everything! I think the minimum photo requirement is like 2 pictures? Just provide a lot of proof in any way you can and you should be good. If you don't have any tickets from your visits you can just show the passport stamps.

I wish this process was quick, but when I have searched, a few years ago it was a night mare for K-1s, some places were taking a year to get through and getting married was tons faster. So far I have seen a few people get to sent in package to interview with in 4 months, and they are here with in 5 months of the package being sent....

But I don't want to scare you, depending on how common your name is, your education, and where you are from, sadly the middle east comes to mind really, they take even longer. While researching I saw someone from the middle east in a stage called Administrative Processing for nearly 3 years, I don't recall if they were married or in a K-1. I really hope they can see their S.O. soon. During this time your name is checked and if it becomes a name hit, I guess they have to do a manual check. Most of the time it takes 60 days to clear up.

This process will take time, read the guide lines, make sure he can be a sponsor for the k-1 and AoS, and he meets the requirements. If he doesn't use these forums to figure out how to over come it. If they are any red flags, get ready to counter it.

If you truly have a legit relationship, like most people here that are posting, 97% of the time. 3% are people that are trolling, you will most likely get approved unless someone lied or happens to not meet the requirements. Please keep in mind, people here will always talk about the legal way of doing this, and wont suggest any other way.

At the current rate with the information given from members that are going through the process. If you were to send it in like today (sept 10), and it was perfect and no hiccups, you would be looking at an interview sometime in late March early April.

I personally feel like the Dallas local office is going slow about 330 days between filing and interview, but I know there are a lot of people in that area, I haven't done much research on its office only mine. I know with mine they are taking 7 months to get an interview for AoS from filing, I have seen some with as little as 4 months. They are still catching up from 7 people retiring at the same time from 2014.

On the plus side!!! Make sure to file for an Employment Authorization Document, this will enable you to work in the USA while waiting for the greencard interview. You can get it expedite if you are given a job offer, this will basically shave close to a month off of waiting. Please keep in mind there are jobs that require you to be an LPR or a US Citizen, so far it looks like it is mainly for Aerospace, but I have not searched for any other fields of work.

Letters and emails and such are good to show a bonafide relationship - but that's not what USCIS is asking for. They want proof that you met within the last 2 years, so passport stamps, boarding passes, photos should be a part of the i-129f package. Not a whole lot, just to show the dates you met and proof that you actually did meet on those dates.

Some add a little extra (like we did), chatlogs, tickets, letters or such, as the embassy has looked through your package even before you go to the interview and get to present that type of evidence in person. Since you're from Australia it shouldn't be an issue, but some countries have big issues (high fraud and such) so they pack the i-129f with extra evidence to make sure the embassy hasn't already made up its mind before they even get to the interview.

You don't need a ring on your finger to be engaged.

Actually, depending on the culture you are coming from. If engagement ring is part of the culture for engaged couple, then OP should do so.

It doesn't have to be a fancy ring.. But you say you are engaged, there should be something to show that not just your word and an engagement ring and the pictures from proposal show that.

Whenever you file i would avoid filling in December or in the summer because of holidays and alot of ppl are off. if your a straight forward case , no big RFEs , etc the whole process isnt that bad its really the processing and waiting that sucks ,take your time preparing that petition, I did mine by myself and spent months gradually building it when it came time to mail it i knew every single document i had in there . Since it doesnt seem like your ready to mail anything now best study this forum ,uscis, youtube k1 videos and understand everything

Hey! With preparing your peition, I suggest you'd look closely into the guides here, USCIS website, google K1 petition prepare - you'll get a lot of things too. Make sure you complete it with as much evidence as possible. Also do not forget to add an intent to marry twice, one with your name + one with his name. I filed in January 2016 and my journey took 6 months exact from sending to receiving the visa.

Also about no ring. At my interview I was with this friendly lady that had her K1 interview before me. I could hear what they said and the CO asked her, "So, you don't have a ring yet nor did he propose?" in which she answered: "No, I'll get the ring and official proposal once I get there. We did not want to get engaged if the petition didn't make it or visa denial. Just being safe." She got approved after 2 minutes.

Im in Texas too and going through the k1 process! My suggestion is that if you and your fiance have met within the past 2 years and have plans to marry within the 90 days as the law requires then yall need to go ahead and file.

My fiance is from Egypt. Our timeline is this:

6/25 Engaged in Egypt on the Nile

7/5 filed to the Lewisville address
7/6 received
7/8 NOA 1
8/24 NOA 2
9/9 NVC received.

Also, as they said you dont need a ring to say you are engaged. You will however need to send proof that your fiance came to your country and photos of yall together showing a proof of relationship. Best wishes!

About the ring

I'm married but me and my husband wanted to get tattoo rings , I'm pregnant so we are waiting till we have our child to get the tattoo. That was all our plan before we got married the baby was a surprise for us

We sent the conversation talking about the different tattoos we liked for our ring

He never got me a engagement ring and we didn't have a fancy wedding just married at the courthouse here in DR.

Though we aren't doing the k1 process its simalar to what you're going through I front loaded the application sent about 70 pictures as well and conversation between my family and also many of our conversations as well

I love my husband ?‍?‍?

Hello everyone :)

My boyfriend and I want to apply for the K1 Visa. Im from Australia, he lives in Texas. I need to know some things first if anyone has the answers?

Do we have to be engaged prior to applying for K1 visa? We dont have a date yet when we'd like to get married, but we do in the near future. We would like to get married during the 90 day period when im allowed to come back in the states.

You first need to be engaged (official papers indicating so) and submit evidence with your petition-the forms thats it. You MUST get married within 90 days upon your arrival to the U.S.

My boyfriend is filling out the K1 visa, we are stuck on 2 things....

He doesnt have a "Alien registration number" what even is that? ?

And with the G-325A form do we both send a copy of this form filled separately?

Also..."Current husband or wife" (if none, so state)? We're not married yet so what should we put in that section? ....Thanks guys!

Then, If he was born here then he won't have Alien number, and if you have not entered to U.S by initiating residency then you won'tt have one either. those number are for those who became citizens through marriage and other ways. So, leave that blank. Each one of you must have their own G-325 filled. yes separately. since you are not married, you need to file Form I-129, fiancé visa

Looking at the K1 timelines for Australia, the average time from filing the petition to Interview is 165 days.
