In my opinion there is something wrong that K-1's are processed faster, spousal petitions and visas should take priority over k-1. Married couples are already married and should be reunited first. And if you were to actually do your homework you would know that spousal visas take longer

while the spousal visa takes longer there is so much more advantage ,think of that also to. You are only looking at the short term picture and not the overall picture

Your wife's visa was not approved fast because you did your homework, it was approved fast because she is from the Philippines, which means it gets auto-expedited. Everyone's spousal visa petition takes 5 to 6 months, unless you get an RFE, which prolongs the process, or your spouse is from a country who gets auto-expedited.

Totally agree with you there. There is definitely something wrong with the ENTIRE visa process, for fiancé and for spousal visas. Shouldn't take that long for people to be together and the amount of time waiting shouldn't depend on which service center the petition is sent to or which country the petitioner is from. It should be equal time for everyone and much shorter process times.

Yes the process is very flawed. The fact that a petition can be approved in less than 2 weeks shows how quickly the process can be completed. Now if the NVC part could be handled during the petition process or at least at the same office, it would be even faster. I can think of no good reason to keep married people and fiances apart for over a year. Not when it is clear from VJ that it only needs to take around 3 months.

Just a little caution - we were approved in 21 days but then it took 5 months for the CSC to mail the approved petition to the NVC - I hope you don't have to go through what we went through.

Congrats. Question, did you send it directly to Cali service station???? My german fiancee and I have been waiting 5 months from texas and looks like we may not even be able to get married when we want because of ridiculous wait times...... A few lawyers have basically laughed at us thinking it would happen on time. I wish there was a way to change our service location.

Petitions are all sent to the lockbox in Texas and from there are routed to either CSC or TSC depending on the location of the petitioner. I see your petitioner is located in NY, which is why you were sent to TSC. There is a very large discrepancy in processing times between the two service centers.

Why would it be insensitive? In my opinion your making the OP feel badly because they had a quick approval is insensitive, there is no need to be a kill joy. I understand why people stuck at TSC are discouraged, but I'm getting tired of TSC people taking their frustrations out on CSC people. There is absolutely no need to make them feel awful over something they have ABSOLUTELY no control over. They have the right to share their happiness without being made feel guilty. And believe it or not as the OP stated, most people are not even aware of the difference in processing times.

Can they be happy? Sure. Should they be bragging all over the forum and rubbing it in people's faces? Absolutely not.

Regardless, it says a lot about the sensitivity and class of a poster to brag about their quick processing times when they know others are suffering.

Nobody is bragging. No body is rubbing anyone else's nose in anything. I find it insensitive that anyone would pour cold water over a stranger's happiness, just because their personal journey is taking longer. "There! Now you feel as bad as I do! Take that!"

Everyone has an individual case. Everyone has a different history. Everyone will get through in their own time. Everyone is standing in their own line. Nobody is butting ahead of you.

A serious dose of adult behavior is needed here. Maybe a red button, down next to report, that says I''m offended and I want to whine about it.

I don't really see any posts in this thread that try to rain on the OPs parade - he expressed surprise at his quick approval and was looking for input. That he got with clarification and some education.

And yes, people are entitled to whine while they are experiencing dismal and discriminatory service. There would be no whining if processing times where roughly equal. They haven't been for well over one year. The whining rightly won't stop until equality is restored.

And no, people are not in individual lines nor are personal histories the main factor in the 8 fold disparity of processing times, but rather lack of resources and abysmal management.

I might be less incensed if I only had to pay 1/8 of the fee given that my petition will likely take 220 days+ instead of the current CSC average of 26.
