I hope you two guys can work things out. You already got the ticket, so go ahead and visit. Have a heart to heart and think things through. If you let this chance pass, then you will probably have to go through the whole process again, be subject to more scrutiny or get married and then file for CR1.

I would strongly advise to visit and see if you two still want to be together.

A bit of my own experience...

Met my husband in MX, then he moved back to US. After much back and forth he finally moved again to MX, we got married and lived here for a while. Noooowww we are filing for CR1 so that I can be with him legally in the US... it is so difficult to be apart for about a year, so please be honest to each other and hopefully you won't have to go through what so many of us are going...

It would have been so much easier for us to do the K1 have we not been so hesitant and fearful of change. Now it's my turn to change residence :) But the wait.. the being apart.. the hardship to not be able to just be in his arms and watch a movie after a long day... I do not wish this upon anybody, so I really do hope that you guys can work out whatever issues you are facing and go for the K1 - faster and easier!

Best,

UnaMexicana

OP, I agree with those that said you should come to the US to save your relationship. However, that is if, & only if, she is OK with that. I mean she may not feel that this is the right time to marry. But you didn't say that she doesn't wanna continue the relationship. I think if you come, you will have time to iron out your issues & still marry within the 90 days. Just see if she's OK with that.

Where's the like icon for this response? I agree with you. Everyone argues and sometimes when the reality hits some individuals they get cold feet because marriage is a big responsibility of commitment and changes. I think it wouldn't hurt to see each other and see how things are as they settle the what ifs fear factor. If there is still thought of holding off on the marriage, then they can take it from there, but nothing beats getting together to work things out. A marriage counselor is also good advice as situations can be brought to light and dealt with from another perspective. I wish them all the best.

I say if its cold feel get mediation, if the love cannot

make reasoning put a pause on the chaos, then don't

make a lifetime commitment with doubts behind it. You

will only have 89 days when you arrive to be married.

If after long distance a couple is not just all honky dory

wanting to be together and laughing catcing up, something

MIGHT be amiss, love has waned & to avoid embarassment

a marriage is still forced thru, or because the visa is in hand

it is a big warning sign

Contact the embassy and inform them that you want to cancel it. If you have a future petition you may get scrutinized more for it

so you want everything documented. Doing nothing is not a good idea.

You two should have a face to face talk and determine what you both want in person.

It sounds like she had an online romance mentality that now is becoming a reality and she is afraid. Pre marriage counseling may help.

Figure out why you fight and implement change to learn constructive communication.

I can't tell you how many times I have read these stories and then later after the K1 expires the couples start all over again with

another petition because they determine they do love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together.

This process is rough and tough and the distance extremely challenging and tempers can flare but need to cool down for the survival

of the relationship.

What things do you fight about ? Everything or the same things ? Fix it. Really listen to each other.

If she does not wish to be married you go back home.

This wishy washy stuff is for the birds but then again better to know what you want before you marry.

She needs to make up her mind and have some follow through either way. She knew you fought long ago right ? Or is it just

something hapening now ? It is not fair to you to make you hang in this predicament and she should have stopped the petition long ago

unless there has been a new developement in your relationship and she is fed up.

Clearly we are all romantics here that believe there's a chance for you to resolve things if you do so in person. If she's willing to have you visit, get on that plane and remind her in person what life can be with you. Good luck and let us know what happens

Most women are quick to anger and then try to resolve issues when the damage has been done. Get on the plane and go see her but stay in a hotel. Get in touch with her and have a face to face and let her sleep over your discussion. If after 72 hrs you guys can't resolve the issues then leave her in peace she was never worth your stress in the first place. Please DO NOT grovel no matter what you do. Good luck

No need to cancel it, just don't use it and it will expire.

It is best to cancel it, there are numerous threads with past "open" k1's and even expired K1's that can cause problems IF the beneficiary

applies for another K1 in the future following an approved petition.

Let us be realistic, a return flight from Ghana to the US is not cheap for those earning Dollars, how much would it be for those who have been working in Ghana?

And then day to day costs when you are here?

Just wonder how practical a visit really is.

Everyone argues... dont understand why some assume that marriage is a fairytale and everyone has to be perfect... biggest lesson I learned is Forgiveness and you have to let go of wrongs if forgiven. I been apart from my Husband for almost two years. I think after she cools off and you explain to her your feelings maybe she will come around. Let her know this is your chance to be together and if you dont get married now, later if you try it will be harder process, and longer. Good luck and I hope this can be worked out.

HI GUYS

MY FIANCEE AND I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING LATELY SHE SAYS SHE HAS BEEN FEELING THIS IS NOT RIGHT ANYMORE TO GO THRU WITH OUR MARRIAGE PLANS EVEN THOU THE VISA HAS BEEN ISSUED LIKE 2 MONTHS AGO AND AFTER I HAVE RESIGNED FROM MY WORK ALREADY BOUGHT MY TICKET LIKE 1 MONTH AGO ALL WHICH SHE KNEW.

SHE MENTIONED ABOUT CANCELLING THE VISA AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IS POSSIBLE TO DO THAT?

SHE is the only one that can cancel it. You cannot. If I were you I would cut my losses and start looking for another fiance. Sorry this is happening to you. The worst part is if she fails to withdraw the petition it can tie things up for you for a long time. It is very important that you do not enter the US on the filed petition as it would be visa fraud and it would affect any future visa attempts.

Good luck

Entering the US on a K1 doesn't constitute visa fraud. He can legally stay in the country for 89 days if things don't work out before returning home. OP you have resigned from work already because of this process. Go ahead and visit if you have the required funds and see if things can be rectified before closing the chapter on this person.
