Hi,

Does the visa ban included permanent resident petitioning for spouse and child? I'm in the part of completing their d260 and submitting documents online.

Yes, it does, as well as all other relatives.  Only spouse/minor child of USC are not banned currently.

Hey All,

Can someone help me with the approximate wait time to get to the visa/interview stage after the date on Chart A becomes current ? I know it takes some time for processing even after the PD becomes current but i've been getting mixed responses online with some quoting upto 6 months of wait time. Would be glad if someone who has a better understanding of the process can help with some context.

Thanks

For F2B? You’re aware this is one of the banned categories? (Read above if not)

In general wait time for interview is embassy dependent

Noone is gonna interview for F2B before next year and there is a backlog building up. I don’t think anyone can know right now how long it would take to schedule.

Yes for F2B. I'm aware about the ban and know that it takes a variable amount of time depending on the embassy. But in general, minus the present circumstances, would you know how much time it takes ??

It can take a month at some embassies and 6 months at others. So there is no “in general”, or nothing that’s relevant to anyone. What is relevant is your embassy.

Is there some place where embassies post their processing times or something ??

Susie is right. No one can predict exact time as it depends on the embassy location and immigration policies.

General timeline (based on my case) after PD becomes current and USCIS petition approved:

NVC contacts time : 60 days

Fees approval : 2-3 days

Document submission time : Depends on you. How early you can submit those. Police clearance certificate takes time generally provided you have all the other docs.

If all the documents are okay, you will receive a DQ within 2 months.

After receipt of DQ, NVC contacts yours consulate for interview. It takes 2-3 months in my country.

So Susie is right when she said it generally takes 6 months after PD becomes current

Now with president proclamation in place, consulates are not taking interviews of banned categories (F2B, F1 being one of them). So till 31 December 2020, applicants have to wait for an interview. once the consulate resumes interview just imagine the backlog they have to clear. And quite frankly, I even don't want to imagine how much time people like me has to wait to reunite. So fingers crossed, spirits up.

Hope this ordeal soon gets over for everyone.

Hello. Is there still a chance to change categories from F2B to F1 if you already started processing documents for NVC? Or even if you are already documentarily qualified? I think for my timeline, given I will be able to submit all my docs by 1st week October, DQ probably by December. And my petitioner's US citizenship processing starts in 5 months now. If you have any insights, I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks
