Timeline

I have been doing my research but I just want to get some opinions on the reality of my situation. My NoA2 is May 14th. Of course, I am still waiting for NVC to receive my case. I called for the first time last night but they said it could be at least 5 weeks until they get anything (from what I have seen, it has been an average of about 3 weeks from looking at timelines, so I will call again next week.) Given my NoA2, is there any chance I might be able to get an interview in late August or in early September? The latest I can stay in Japan on this visa is October 29th, and I really want to be able to go to my wife’s interview with her at the Tokyo embassy and both of us return to the US together before then. Is this a realistic scenario?

I really think you have a good chance at having an interview sometime in September. Looking at most people's timelines and also the spreadsheet, a lot of people have an interview scheduled around 4 months (more or less) from the date of their NOA2. I definitely think it's possible, but just keep up on all of your paperwork and have everything ready to be sent in once you have a case number assigned. :)

Hi I have a quick and urgent question...

At the end of the DS-260 last question on sign and submit it says to fill in passport number, who's passport number are they asking for?? Beneficiary or Petitioner? I am the petitioner filling in the DS-260.

And also, on the sign and submit page there a linked form for male 18-26 for selective service, my husband is 24, does he fill that and mail it when he comes here or from bring it with him when he comes here?????

It says...

This form should be printed on the reverse side in the vernacular of the country from which

the alien is leaving. Place the original in the alien's INS file. Give a copy to the alien.

on the bottom of the form

Beneficiary's passport; as he is the one submitting the application, even though you're helping him complete it.

If he is 24, he has to register with the Selective Service. I think he has to do it once he is in the US, but I am not sure.

Do we have to send a copy of the DS-260 along the IV Package?

Nope. Just the bar-coded cover sheet. Good luck!

Yes you need to include the IV cover sheet that is printed from the receipt page. I don't know what will happen with your documents if you didn't include it. You did include the DS-260 one and that has the case number on it so they should be able to match it up with your file. Praying that they are able to match it up for you.

CanGirl Is the DS-260 not electronically sent like the DS-261? If so why in heavens name do you have a cover or bar code for it? Just curious at this point. :)(F)(L)(F)

My husband called yesterday they said it was a false checklist and packets are under review. So Does that mean that AOS was accepted and reviewing DS260 and IV packet? Here is the checklist

congratulations on your case number! Be sure to read Saylin's wiki, as the time frames they quote to you are often overstated and you can speed up the process by knowing what to do next :secret:

As stated many times, we're always willing to help, but you MUST read Saylin's wiki found in the first page of this thread. The questions you are asking are ones you should have answers to by now if you've followed this thread or read the wiki.

totally random thought..lol

does anyone find it annoying that the Choice of agent form is called ds-261 and Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application is called ds-260?

since we fill out choice of agent form first, maybe it should be named ds-260 and Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application been ds-261...maybe there's a reason it's that way and maybe not...lol

okay, i am done.

Oh that's great. I've been living in Chihuahua for almost 4 years and I love it too but I need to work again! Many of the people here in Chihuahua go to Mazatlan for vacation and they seem to love it. Keep us updated with your progress. :)

I think it's possible if you have all your "docs" in a row (get it? :P ), no checklists and your case moves smoothly through this process. You are roughly looking at NVC receiving your case file end of this week or next week. Then give it 4 weeks to get a case#, plus 1 or 2 days for your 261 and AOS invoice to be available afterwards. This puts you on the last week of June. Your IV invoice should be available about a week after your DS-261 was completed, so you are on the second week of July. From there, another 2 weeks to 20 days for review and case complete in the last days of July. This would put you in line for September interviews scheduling, or July if you are really lucky. Again, this is an ideal case scenario.

Good luck!
