I met my husband while he was in the States on Vacation a few years back and we been long distance since. It is absolutley the worst. We are very fortunate though, since he is Canadian we have been able to visit eachother every month. The expense of plane tickets and taking time off from work is killing us though. Can't wait until he is here for good and we can truly start living! I wish us all a speedy process. Good things come to those who wait... right! :)

That does sound difficult ):

The thing is, after we have an approval Im going back to stay with my husband. He just wants me to be here while its pending, just in case. I hope we get an approval soon. :clock:

Does anyone know how this process works? Are they actually processing our petitions right now? Or are they just sitting on a desk until the 5 months is up? Does that mean I won't know if they'll need extra evidence or anything until December?

I am pretty sure we are just sitting on a desk, who knows! I can't imagine a background check and to look over a few pieces of paper takes up to and over 5 months in some cases. From what I see from other people they ususally don't get a RFE until they start looking at your case, so yes you can wait for months before they ask for that. I guess the only good part about an RFE is that you know someone actually is working on your case. Thursday will be 4 months for me and my husband at Nebraska center, and it's just crickets. Hoping for an end of October, first week of November approval. This being apart stuff is brutal!

Well- according to my research in the subject, it is all based on your priority date (should they really follow this procedure consistently) *yikes*. But yea, if you see the priority date that NSC is currently working on, and count the months left up to your priority date, it will most likely sum up to 5 months. See what I mean? It’s not that your paperwork is sitting there, technically yea, but it’s just rolling down as others that were before get reviewed. However, we all know how inconsistent this is. Some ppl who applied later get their approval sooner but it is a crappy system. I dont know, dont tak emy word on anything - this is just my point of view .

In regards to RFE – as per what I’ve seen, if you were to get an RFE, it would be before or at 5 months – the good thing is that if nothing is out of the norm, and you respond promptly and correctly to the RFE- you should receive a decision ( approval or denial) in the next two - three week.

This is all based on everything I’ve seen in the past years.

What's the USCIS number that he called? And how did he get them to tell the processing date?

He created a thread on that => http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/568024-nebrasca-service-center-news/#entry7838087
