Hey Saylin,

Both are an option as far as I know.

For me, I feel the I-864A should be used by spouses of those filing an I-864 as a joint sponsor. By this I mean, the petitioner files an I-864, the main joint sponsor files an I-864, then their spouse combines their income using an I-864A. Although it's quite possible, it's just weird to me when the main joint sponsor files an I-864A.

I sent both AOS and IV packages to NVC on Friday and should have been received by NVC today. I called to check if this is the case but the person on the line told me she does not have information about incoming mail and I should check back in 20 days to see if my case has been processed. Should I just call back in 20 days or call again tomorrow?

. They dont review give it a week before you call again. Its not like when we are waiting case number. Its really 15 to 20 bussiness days and your lucky enough 10 bussiness days. waiting for my checklist to be reviewed. police clearance sent june 27 and still not reviewed. and not yet in their system.

it would have helped my paranoid mind if they could give an email confirmation that documents have been recieved or confirm that on phone and then continued processing them...I think I'll try again next week.

it is pointless to call in less than two weeks of receipt

the next notification you will get is that you have an rfe or a case complete

you might be able to get info that your case is on a desk, but if it only takes a few hours to process, you are best waiting your two full weeks before you start calling.. don't drive yourself nuts with this one

Yea, it looks like sections of the site are still buggy from being down yesterday. It let me finish my DS-261, but won't let me e-mail the confirmation or print the IV cover sheet.

I agree... unless the household has to combine all their income to make it work, the main joint sponsor should do the I-864 and meet the requirements themselves. Why not find a new joint sponsor if they don't? The petitioner should ALWAYS do an I-864.

I also have other thoughts on the joint sponsors but I'll keep them to myself - Karma and all that ;)

Are you using IE?

Empty your cache and browser history, even get rid of your cookies. ONLY use IE as well.. It will and does mess up on other browsers after it lets you do most of what you want.
