My fiancee has been showing signs of stress and depression. She hasn't seen a doctor yet but I will convince her to go soon. I was just wondering if it is possible to expedite the visa process if the doctor discovers she is becoming depressed. I believe she is dealing with a lot of stress because of all her responsibilities at home and the poor conditions that she lives in. I believe because of this stress she could be developing depression. If that is the case I foresee extreme hardships on our relationship. I support her financially but if she develops a mental illness such a depression I think it would be hard to pay for those medical costs. But if she was here it would be much easier for me to care for her. I have medical insurance and when we are married it can cover her as well. So I was just wondering what is required to expedite the visa process?

If it matters, I'm from the USA and she is from the Philippines.

Thank you

You can always try but most likely not possible.

Doubt it. I have a history with stress/depression and currently live in very difficult living conditions, but I've not considered the expedite route and it seems only for emergencies.

It is one of the grounds for our expedite request as well as some others, but I am the USC and it also involves an issue with my USC child. We haven't received a response yet.

It is my understanding that if it is the beneficiary that they are less likely to do the expedite and that the medical exam will ask some questions about mental health. I don't know if I'd want to risk it. We made a desperate attempt with laying it all out there, but again there has been no response by USCIS. You can take a look at the whole timeline in my about me if you want some insight into it.

Exactly. Another point. It could provide problems at the medical examination stage if you submit that saying she's suffering from stress and depression. With my history, I've recieved treatment already and confirmed with my GP that he will write a letter to say I'm not a threat. I wouldn't risk giving them more things to be concerned about.

Hi, you might want to be careful how you word it, if you do decide to submit a request for an expedited visa. You don't want to give them any reason to think that she might have any mental health issues and that might delay your process. Good luck

Is this a new condition in her life, or has her living environment always been in this condition? What makes today in her life any different than what her environment was a couple of months, weeks ago?

If it were that easy we would all be doing it.

The immigration process is very stressful and can often be very depressing. Add that to the fact of everyday life and I am willing to bet most of us here have felt the same way.

I think you have received some very good advise here. Be careful trying to use anything related to mental health as it may come back to bite you in the long run.

I agree with all the advices here, filipina's are too emotional specially dealing with problems and family matters. All the filipina i knew including me,are guilty. lol!!!During the time i was on K1 stage, let me tell you i was so stressed, depressed and upset because i dealt with so many things but my husband was always telling me just look at the bright side always... Thinking too much the difficult things or situation made you depress and stress.
