Hugs for all sick babies, hope they feel better soon!

Sam is allergic to egg... well, it's not like allergic allergic.. he just got a rash around his mouth when he eat egg. When we were in Italy I gave him a wooden spoon (cooking spoon) to play with and he got a rash around his mouth and sure - the spoon was not clean properly and had dried egg on it (hardly seeit though). We stayed at an apartment so the previous group must have cooked egg with it and didnt clean it well. And there were twice incident with egg before that's why I know :( so sad. Do you think this will pass?

Zaid had a moderate egg allergy and we would just try and reintroduce every 6 months and give bendaryl if needed. Last month he ate scrambled eggs successfully with no hives and has been eating them since.

I would consult a pediatric allergist. We had Hana tested at 18 months. We thought her periodic projectile vomiting and almost constant ear infections might be a food allergy since we have a big family history. We just took her to her six month follow-up appointment. Since we have avoided wheat, squash, oranges, and now kiwi, she is doing soooo well. He said we really need to keep avoiding these items until she is at least three. Then, he'll test her again and see if she reacts. I know from my own food allergy, that it is better to reintroduce under medical supervision. Some scary things can happen with food allergies, even if they didn't last time.

OMG I've reached the end of my rope. Kai has been screaming non stop for days now, he is constantly eating (every 20 minutes) and most of it is coming right out including the Zantac. Pediatrician told us we have to hang in there. But it's really tough when you have to function on 20 minutes of sleep/night or none at all. Every time he burps or hiccup's my heart skips a beat because I know that the next minute he is screaming in pain again from the acid hurting him. The ped told us about a support group for GERD but all I read is horror stories from other parents' whose kids ended up with tube feedings,ADHD, autism, allergies and whatnot because neurologic disorders and food allergies go hand in hand with this #######. :crying: Most people in this support groups have toddlers on 3 or 4 medications and lost their jobs/spouses/house because they couldn't function anymore then quit their job, then lost their house or got a divorce. :o

I've tried everything from pumping to formula, to all these f-ing gadgets for reflux but nothing works. It's just so horrible to see your kid scream in pain for hours, vomit, then become hungry again, just to vomit again and experience the same pain. :crying:

Stef - do you need a referral to go to a pediatric gastroenterologist? If not, I would be calling for an appt tomorrow to see if they can help you even more. I am so sorry you are going through this. :(

Stef: I am so sorry that you are going through this. I don't understand why the doc can't help you anymore when it sounds that bad. I would definitely see a specialist based on what you described. Hope it gets better.

I called the gastroenterologist we were seeing for Ben and his constipation and they said they won't see him unless a few weeks on the antacids meds were unsucessfull and they would need a referral from the ped in order for the insurance to cover that.

I'm so exhausted and confused and frustrated!!! We've been through so much with Ben and I never thought it could actually be worse. Kai cried from 11pm til 10am today, then slept for 45 minutes and he is awake and crying again now. I don't know what to do anymore. And I just want to flip out when I hear the saying "sleep when the baby sleeps" He doesn't sleep more than 45min-1.5 hours and I have a toddler and work to deal with too! Plus when he actually does go to sleep I have to sit there and watch out that he doesn't choke on his vomit.

Last night the hubby took him for a few hours but that made the crying worse and then Ben woke up, so there we were all awake for hours listening to the baby scream.

Staashi: I tried fennel tea, baby tea, chamomile.... doesn't work. :(

no he has been on Zantac for a week now, with some success- he seems to be in less pain but still extremely sensitive and fussy and he is still vomiting a lot. He is like a raw egg, just picking him up makes him scream! He is stiff like a board most of the time it's like his little body can't ever relax anymore! I tried colic calm, mylicon, gripe water etc. didn't work either. I did some research and found that for some GERD babies prevacid works, my husband and his mother have reflux and they have both been taking prevacid for years every day. I wonder if there is a gnetic link? I will ask the ped next time if she could prescribe prevacid. But for now they want to keep him on Zantac because it may take a few weeks to fully help.

I guess I just have to get through this and be patient. It just sucks to see your kid scream day and night and not being able to help him.

Ok...two things: take him to a chiropractor who works on babies - his body might need an adjustment. Also, if you are still bf'ing stop and try the similac alimentum formula. Some people find that it works well on infant reflux.

You are in my prayers big time. Seriously.

Hi all,

did any of you ever take a graco snugride 35 infant car seat on board of an airplane? I know it won't fit on top of some shopping carts so I wonder if it would fit into economy seats on airplanes.

Any help would be great.

:)

Too, I wonder if any1 ever used the CARES child restraint harness. It says its good for children weighing 22 to ? lbs.

My little girl is "only" 16 lbs at 8 months and 26.5 inches. Do you think I could use that instead of a car seat?

We will be flying intercontinental with american airlines for over 15 hours with a layover. So I try to figure the best way for her to travel. Bassinets seem to be restricted to infants younger than 6 months and shorter than 25 inches :(

Any help would be great :)

@ Steffi: I am so sorry for you and Kai, I hope it gets better soon and that the ped will refer you to the specialist. Maybe it does take time for the Zantac to fully kick in, and maybe Prevacid will help too. In the meantime I totally would take him to a chiro who adjusts infants. I have heard many success stories about Schreibabys and chiros, I know it's a different category but it might be worth a shot.

@ Tweety: I had a good experience with AA, I had a layover in Chicago, if you go through there beware, immigration/baggage recheck/going from international to domestic terminal takes a good 2.5 hours. Yikes. Anyways, we have a CARES harness and use it for Jona since he was 2. Works well. As for the infant car seat, no idea, I never brought one, but my sister brought a Maxicosi infant car seat on the plane without any issues. I don't know if the GRaco is bigger than that..
