Hello good day guys, I am Kingsley from Abuja Nigeria, my wife filed for me to come to the US around January ending, next month will make it 4 months since we applied, me and my wife are hoping that I will be called for the interview next month, we know that it takes up to 6 month's but someone told us that it takes 4 months but America will tell you 6 months because sometimes there can be some issues and the files might not be ready in the 4 month so to be on a safe side they prefer to tell you 6 months.

So I want to ask, how long does it really takes to be approved from the US side? And I also want to ask , how much does it cost in Nigeria to do a medical report and police report?

The I-130 is currently taking anywhere form 6-10+ months depending on service center.  Four month would be well sooner than average...not impossible, but certainly not the norm.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/irstats.php?history=180

Then the I-130 is sent to NVC for the next step in processing (http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process). ETA: ~3 months or so.

Then the case is scheduled for an interview at the embassy, which varies by consulate.

Are you aware that the CR-1 process, unless your filing DCF, takes 12-14 months on average?  My wife and I filed in April of 2016.  Her interview, held in Taipei, Taiwan,  was in May of 2017......that's a 13 month process from filing to visa in hand......that's just about the average time.

Ok thank you sir, I hope they get it done next month because staying apart from my wife is real toture and purnishment . We are always spending money for her to come visit me in Nigeria and those money could be invested in our marriage but we spend a lot of it on traveling.

Be prepared for it to be a 12-14 month process. Anything less is a bonus. All of us have had to deal with this separation and having done our homework beforehand allows us to be prepared for the long separation and the costs involved in travelling back and forth.

Uhm...It takes roughly 12-14 months from the time you filed your paperwork to visa in hand....on average....for pretty much everyone

Some might get lucky and have it done in 10 months and others wait even longer like 16 months ...all depends on your paperwork and your case, Service Center etc..

But unless you are DCF you won‘t have a visa in 4-6 months

We filed Late November and are,of course, still waiting for NOA2

If you initially filed to US IS in late January, I see no way your interview will before end of this year.  The process is not fast and it is not pleasant.

Its Direct Consular Filing - only a few countries have that option and Nigeria is not one of them. We filed in middle of December and have not heard anything either. I'm hoping maybe my husband will have his interview by December 2018 but I know it could be January or Feb 2019. This is a long process. It will not be done before the end of this year for you most likely, just as all the others said.
